Come to one of our first orientation class of the new year.
Access Sacramento's next Orientation class is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb.11th at 6:00 p.m.
The classes are free and open to the public. They last a little over an hour. This orientation class is also a mandatory step in becoming an Access Sacramento member and should be taken at your earliest convenience.
Sign up now since classes fill up fast. Orientations occur twice a month , usually on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Wednesday of each month.
The Orientation Class will give you a chance to ask questions and learn about our services and what we provide to the community and its members. We also will go over the standard classes we offer and member benefits as well as getting a tour of the facility.
The class is taught by our Executive Director, Gary Martin and occasionally by staff persons Michelle Barbaria and Elizabeth Harrison.
All classes are provided on a first come, first serve basis, so take advantage before the classes fill up. You must be a member in order to take our standard classes, but orientation is open to everyone and is the first step in becoming a member of Access Sacramento.

A Place Called Sacramento 2014 Call for Scripts
What inspires you in Sacramento? There is a local film festival that encourages you to do just that.
This week marks the official "A Place Called Sacramento" Film Festival call for scripts. This 15th annual film festival starts out as a script writing contest and scripts are submitted through early spring. The scripts then go through a series of judges and the top ten scriptwriters are chosen. These script writers then become the Producers and are challenged to make their films over the summer with the help of the local film community. The festival features films created by all levels of filmmaker, from the novice to the experienced professional. The community is encouraged to be a part of this process and all levels are welcome.

(Back Row, Left) William Orcutt, PCS Filmmaker; Vincent DeMiles, Diirector; David Ainsworth, Alchemy F/X Makeup Artist; (Front Row, Left) Karen Orcutt, PCS Filmmaker; Hank Collin, PCS Filmmaker; Dwight Taylor, PCS Filmmaker; Ray Tatar, LiveWire! Host last year for the 14th PCS Festival.
|
The Access Sacramento PCS film festival has a particular focus: Write about Sacramento. Stories can be based on or inspired by Sacramento. Stories are not limited by genre or imagination (although documentaries will not be accepted because they do not fit the criteria) We do ask that the films be family friendly since the audience includes all ages and the hope is to inspire others to be able to share their stories.
This episode of LiveWire! includes a visit from Gary Martin, Executive Director of Access Sacramento and Michelle Barbaria, Co-Organizer of the festival. The second part of the program will feature more about PCS and Access Sacramento High School Intern, Ottilia Biondi. Intern,"Ottie" is working on a short film about the process of A Place Called Sacramento. However, at the age of 12 she began taking Access Sacramento classes with her family and has been volunteering on PCS films ever since. She also has been helping on some studio TV programs as a Production Assistant. The film she is working on will help people understand the different stages of the festival process including writing, acting and producing.
Access Sacramento will also be announcing the special classes that will be happening this spring for people interested in various aspects of filmmaking. We have a script-writing class, a film production tips class, and also a new acting for the camera class. These classes will be beneficial to anyone interested in being involved in PCS or many of the the various wonderful film festivals happening around town this spring and summer.
We look forward to sharing more about "A Place Called Sacramento" Film Festival on LiveWire!
Tune in to LiveWire! tomorrow, Feb. 5 at 5 pm on Access Sacramento channel 17 on Comcast and Surewest cable. You can also watch online the same time it airs at www.AccessSacramento.org and click 'watch 17'.
