A Place Called Sacramento

Premieres 10 Short Films

Ten original Sacramento based films received their world premiere before more than 600 supporters at Access Sacramento's 14th Annual A Place Called Sacramento Film Festival Sunday at The Crest Theatre. The festival culminates a script writing and storytelling contest that began last April with the submission and selection of 10 screenplays for production.

All of the films involved locations, actors and stories based in the Sacramento region.

Writer/Producer/Actor Jessica Benz film "Resolution" won the Audience Favorite award after ballots were collected and counted at the conclusion of the event.
"Resolution" Director Diana Erwin (left) with PCS Mascot Quentin Sacramento and Writer/Star Jessica Benz with their "Audience Favorite Award.

Her film tells the story of a young woman whose desire to be beach-bikini ready conflicts with the availability of New Year's eve dessert-a specialty red velvet cupcake from Sacramento's "Icing on the cupcake."

The film was directed by Diana Erwin, who also was a screen play writing instructor for Access Sacramento in early 2013 before the festival's films began production.

The A Place Called Sacramento film festival's other specialty award, the Producer's Choice Award, went to film "Tailypo" written by Dwight Taylor.  "Tailypo" is the story of three young men whose discovery of some American River debris that turns into a surprising late night encounter with its owner.

DVD And Blu-Ray Disks For

PCS Film Festival Are Available

The Place Called Sacramento film festival this year marked new ground technically by being mastered as a Blu-Ray disk for the highest quality display.

Access Sacramento director of operations and training Dev Singh and digital media coordinator Bhim Kumar-Reyes received the 10 PCS films in time to have the high definition computer video files recompressed for output into the Blu-Ray video format.

Compared to a standard DVD, a Blu-Ray disk is able to put four-times the amount of data out to the projector or TV giving exceptional image quality.

Both DVD and Blu-Ray disks with the 10 films from the Place Called Sacramento Film Festival are available for purchase with a credit card by calling the Access Sacramento office at 916-456-8600 extention 0.

Elite Teams Collide

In Game-of-the-Week

By Will James

Access Sacramento

Home Town Sports Game-of-the-Week

The beginning of league play commences Friday evening when Access Sacramento climbs the steep grade of Highway 50 for its television coverage of the top high school football match-up of the season thus far.

That's where the #1 Folsom Bulldogs defend their home turf against the invasion of the #4 Oak Ridge Trojans live Friday on the Home Town Sports Game-of-the-Week.  Both teams enter play undefeated with identical 5-0 records.

Broadcast time is 7 pm on Comcast and SureWest Cable channel 17 and AT&T U-Verse channel 99.

Coach Eric Cavaliere's Trojans, under the leadership of sophomore Quarterback Ian Book, have notched impressive wins over Rocklin, Franklin, and Grant.

The Folsom Bulldogs juggernaut guided by Co-Head Coaches Kris Richardson and Troy Taylor, and fueled by the brilliant passing of Junior Quarterback Jake Browning, continue to demolish all opponents scoring an average of 53 points per game. Browning has multiple games where he's passed for four or more TD's.

This highly anticipated battle will feature playoff intensity and undoubtedly be played before one of the largest crowds of the season.

In addition to the cable TV broadcast, the game may be viewed live from Acccesssacramento.org. Push Watch TV17.

Video Highlights: Pioneer Sneaks Past Cordova In Game Of The Week Thriller

Cordova knew it could happen. Pioneer had used the play the week before. But that didn't prevent Pioneer from using the same halfback-option pass play three times to rack up 95 yards and set up two second-half touchdowns and snatch victory 14-13 before the Cordova home crowd.

Access Sacramento's Will James and Jim Dimino narrate video highlights from Access Sacramento's week-six. See the video here: Game of the Week.

Halfback Anthony Bosser passed three times to wide receiver Donte Haulcy , picking up 95 yards and nearly half of the Patriots 218 yards in total offense.

Once in the closing seconds of the third quarter and again with less than two-minutes in the game, those passes set up the chance for Bosser to cap the drive with a 1 yard touchdown runs, and then a right-end scamper for the PAT to edge the Lancers.

Access Sacramento's Game of the week broadcast live every Friday night at 7 p.m. on Comcast and SureWest Cable channel 17 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99.  The games are streamed live at those same times from www.accesssacramento.org.  Push Watch TV 17.
