Hank Coffin, Writer and Producer of "Off the Mark" is happy to turn in his final cut of his film.
|
The final artwork and playback order for the 14th "Place Called Sacramento" Film festival is being prepared.
Ten local filmmakers showcase their movies Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. at The Crest Theatre in a dynamic world premiere that concludes a competition that began more than five months ago.
"Off the Mark" writer and producer Hank Coffin's film completed his film and turned it in at the Access Sacramento studios as one of the 10 films that will hit the big screen for the first time next month. A full description of all 10 films can be found at the Access Sacramento Website.
Coffin's film is directed by Vincent Dee Miles and stars Rafael Siegel and Tressa Ohler. It tells the story of a journalist who risks his credibility to help a filmmaker friend.
"Off the Mark" is just one of 10 stories selected as winning screenplays last Spring in part one of the "Place Called Sacramento" festival. Nine other writer, producer and director teams have been working since then to complete their 10-minute film entries for the festival.
Besides showing on the big screen, all the films also air on Access Sacramento: Comcast/SureWest cable channel 17 and AT&T U-verse channel 99.

Access Sacramento Game of the Week
Another marquee match-up looms ahead Friday in Elk Grove where Access Sacramento will televise the renewal of an intense, new-born neighborhood rivalry.
Bragging rights are at stake when the Franklin Wildcats collide with the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack. They resume their annual battle for "Parkway Power" during Access Sacramento's HomeTown Sports Game-of-the-Week.
The broadcast begins at 7pm on Comcast/SureWest Channel 17 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. The game also streams live on the internet from www.accesssacramento.org - Push Watch TV-17.

Visiting Franklin enters the contest with a 2-1 record after falling to Oak Ridge last week. Well rested Cosumnes Oaks is coming off a bye week with a 1-1 mark.
Franklin's RB/LB Joey Banks, 5' 10" 195 lb Senior is a force for the Wildcats, while highly recruited WR Alex Van Dyke, Jr. headlines the Wolfpack.
Last year's inaugural game, won by Franklin 23-3, was played before a raucous standing-room-only crowd at Wolfpack Stadium. Expect more of the same. Fans planning to attend Friday's game should plan to arrive early; very early, for what figures to be a big-time battle.
To send a message to your team during the live broadcast, use Twitter.com to contact @SacGOTW. Tune in Friday at 7pm on Access Sacramento, Comcast and SureWest Cable channel 17 or AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Trading Cards Still Inspire Fans
"Magic: The Gathering" is 20 Years Old
By David Stewart
Access Sacramento Intern
One of my favorite ways to relax, is playing the hugely popular Trading Card Game, or TCG for short, "Magic: The Gathering." Being a huge fan of this TCG since I started playing back in 2010, I am always looking up information about it; whether it is trying to find the best card to put in my deck, or hitting up my friends to see if they have cards I need or just Googling new information on the game.
For those of you who may not be familiar with the game here is some background. Magic: The Gathering was created by Richard Garfield and introduced by Wizards of the Coast in 1993. Since its introduction, Magic: The Gathering, or MTG, has thrived with approximately 12 million players as of 2011 and includes 82+ card sets, with 3-4 sets released every year. The most current set of cards is the 2014 Core Set, which is a basic set of cards.
This year, Magic: The Gathering turned 20 years old. MTG is also the holder of seven Guinness World Records including "Rarest Trading Card Game" and "Most Played Trading Card Game." For the complete list of Guinness World records held by Magic: The Gathering visit the article World Records. Also this year, Magic will be releasing its newest set Theros, from the upcoming Theros storyline.
Theros will have players venturing to a plane where gods, heroes, and monsters are an everyday fact of life. Hydras, gorgons, satyrs, and other creatures of myth inhabit this wild, mystical place. In Theros, heroes will challenge themselves in the untamed lands beyond the city walls, set sail on the raging seas, and learn their destiny from divine oracles.
This year is a very exciting year Magic: The Gathering and the Theros storyline is looking equally exciting and I am anxiously awaiting its release.
