"A Place Called Sacramento" Films
Are Due Today

It's been an exciting summer with ups and downs for the Filmmakers, but mostly ups. During the summer 10 films have been in production around Sacramento County and on location on the outskirts of town. Each of the films have faced their share of challenges as well as the exhilaration of completing each task required to make a film. Each of the filmmakers will be bringing their films into Access Sacramento's main offices today to meet the festival deadline.

Here's a summary of activities in the last week:

"Running Into Traffic" has been putting final touches on their film and is now in post production.

"Resolution" is in it's end stages of editing and is ready to be put into it's final format. It's  putting the icing on the cupcake.

"To Pith or Not to Pith; That is the Question (an entomologic fantasy) " has completed all of it's pick up shots and celebrated with a cast pizza party.

"The Tailypo" added some final touches last week after filming their  last couple of pick up shots and is working hard to keep the secret of what's in the mysterious box that is the 'shiny object' of the film.

"The Lottery Ticket" filmed it's final scene in a local market thanks to some great networking from friends and family. It went into post-production a couple of weeks ago.

"The Players" has been filming at pool playing hot spots around town and cleaning up some audio. They are just about ready to turn in their finalized film.

"The Within" has been working hard at editing and adding their cool F/X. They are even promoting the film online with teaser trailers and fun extras.

"Off the Mark" just finished filming early this month after a tromp around midtown filming at various locations. They are now in post-production.

"American River" suffered a few bumps in the road with scheduling, but are recovering quickly from lost production time. They are now in the home stretch.

"Scratch" is just one of the many film and entertainment projects the Ian and the Wynton Family has completed this summer and their family efforts are showing fruition while they prepare for their final rendering of the film.

All the films will be showcased at "A Place Called Sacramento Film Festival" at the Crest Theatre on Sunday, October 6th at 1pm.

The PCS Film Festival likes to share other good works and organizations at the festival. In the past we had featured other short films, improve groups, and poets.  This year there is going to be a special presentation of the first local short film produced by the Northern California Filmmakers Coalition.

It is called "Marcus' Coffee Habit" and it was written and produced by Wanda Meadors who is part of the NCFC. You'll need to come to the festival to see it's premiere on the big screen.

Tickets will be available soon through Tickets.com and the Crest Box Office. There will be tickets available at the door the day of the event as well. Tickets are $10 for all seats and seating is first come, first served.

This is a fundraising event for Access Sacramento and the Neighborhood News Youth Correspondents for AccessLocal.tv. Please share with your friends and family. All ages are welcome.

HS Football TV Launch

replays tonight 7pm

Monterey Trail's Paul Gooden takes a 10 yards pass from Donovan Robinson in the fourth quarter.
Access Sacramento's Game of the Week crew launched an 11 week regular season schedule last Friday broadcasting a 46-12 romp by the Inderkum High School Tigers over the Monterey Trail Mustangs.

Video highlights can be seen here.

Announcers Will James and Jim Dimino called the action as Inderkum Quarterback CJ Spencer demonstrated why five college programs have already made him offers by completing 11 of 14 passes for 170 yards and rushing for 58 yards on 8 carries.

Inderkum's quaterback CJ Spencer passes, runs, punts and kicks PAT's.

Inderkum slowly pulled away in the first half but the quick feet and pounding attack by the Tigers allowed them to gather 473 yards in total offense against Monterey Trails' 228.

Monterey Trail's Trey Nahhas earned Access Sacramento Player of the Game honors coming off the bench in the 2nd half with six carries for 50 yards. CJ Spencer was Player of the Game for Inderkum.

The Inderkum vs. Monterey Trail game repeats on Access Sacramento again tonight at 7pm on Comcast and SureWest Cable 17, or AT&T U-Verse Ch. 99. All broadcasts are also streamed from the Access Sacramento website, www.accesssacramento.org. Push Watch TV 17. The full broadcast schedule is available here.

Live Friday Football Ahead:
No. 8 Burbank vs. No. 5 Pleasant Grove

By Will James, Home Town Sports Game of the Week

Week two of the young high school football season features a number of excellent games, and Access Sacramento's Home Town Sports Game-of-the-Week is serving up perhaps the most delectable course on the gridiron menu.

It's a dynamite match-up featuring major star power that's sure to explode with extra servings of excitement, and will likely draw a sellout crowd at Sheldon High School.  That's where the perennial Metro League powerhouse Burbank Titans will collide with the Delta River League heavyweight Pleasant Grove Eagles in a South Sacramento re-match of last season's 2nd-round playoff thriller won by Burbank.
Joe Cattalico, Pleasant Grove Head Coach Courtesy www.maxpreps.com
Coming off a season-opening win over Rocklin, Joe Cattolico's Eagles have payback on their minds and enter the contest with momentum after stopping highly-regarded Rocklin in their season's opener last Friday behind the dynamic leadership of versatile QB Dre Terrell.
John Heffernan, Burbank Head Coach  Courtesy: The Titan Ledger
John Heffernan's Titans appear ready for this severe road test following their impressive rout of Napa with explosive RB Calvin Green leading the way in grand fashion.

You won't want to miss this one.  If you crave continuous portions of sizzling action, this game is guaranteed to satisfy your football appetite.

LiveU At Access Sacramento

When Access Sacramento broadcasts live for a parade, political speech or sporting event, it uses a LiveU device that take TV video and transports it to the station using cellular phone technology.

This week, LiveU announced that the World Economic Forum recognized the company as a Technology Pioneer 2014. The Forum is best known for its annual gathering of global economic and political leaders in Davos, Switzerland.

LiveU is one of 36 start-ups considered by the organization to be the world's most innovative, with the potential to transform the future of business and society. Technology Pioneers must demonstrate a proven technology and visionary leadership, and show signs of being long-standing market leaders. The World Economic Forum invited LiveU to accept this honor in September at the Annual Meeting of New Champions in Dalian, China, and to attend the annual summit in Davos in January 2014.

The broadcast technology Access Sacramento uses allows the full quality video signal to be split into six pieces. Then each piece is transmitted via cellular phone line back to the Access Sacramento studio where it is reassembled and put on the cable channel.

Access Sacramento first started using the LiveU technology two years in partnership with Sacramento's Video Streaming Services who provides additional internet links during specialty programming and live streams both TV 17 and TV 18 onto the internet from Access Sacramento's homepage www.accesssacramento.org.

"A Fun Weekend at Chalk It Up! in Sacramento"
Access Sacramento member square artist Alison Wells with her art model.
Last weekend was the annual Chalk It Up! to Sacramento event at Fremont Park in Midtown Sacramento. Access Sacramento's Neighborhood News Correspondents were there on Saturday gathering video interviews through-out the day along with some local youth who learned on the spot how to do a quick interview. Videos are posted on our AccessLocal.tv website.

Isaac Gonzalez and Neighborhood News Correspondents

It was an exciting event. On Saturday many people strolled through the park to see artists getting started on their chalk art and returned on Sunday to see the finished product. It's a fun process to watch as the concrete squares acted as blank canvas on Saturday morning; by Sunday they are filled with colorful artwork.

Here's a sample of the videos from our Neighborhood News Bureaus and their youth correspondents. Push the title to see the video:

The concrete squares are sponsored by local organizations, businesses, and even some individual patrons of the arts. Proceeds support youth art education grants.
