Announcing Team Named for
Live "Game of the Week"
Football Broadcasts
 |
Adrian Gonzales working Game Camera during a game last year.
|
Another season of live televised football in Sacramento County will be broadcast by the veteran Access Sacramento announcing team of Will James and Jim Dimino. The pair began Hometown Sports "Game of the Week" (GOTW) broadcasts in 1996.
The line-up of games is being constructed and high schools are being contacted for permissions and set-up details.
 | Will James interviews Jim Dimino about his CIF-Sac Joaquin Section Hall of Fame Award.
|
James has done play-by-play announcing of broadcast college and high school sports on radio and TV for more than 30 years, serving as Co-Executive Producer for Game of the Week since its beginning. James is noted for his incredible memory of high school players, games and details from past seasons that adds a "Hometown TV" perspective unavailable anywhere else.
Dimino is a retired football coach and athletic director from El Camino high school, having been named to the CIF-Sac Joaquin Section Hall of Fame as an administrator in 2012. Dimino's perspective as a coach and mentor of athletes brings an instructive tone to the broadcast that helps viewers understand not only what is happening, but how and why it developed.
The third member of the announcing team will be Rick Stewart, who joined Game of the Week for basketball in January. Stewart will handle sideline updates, halftime coaches' interviews and Player of the Game interviews.
 |
Technical Director Keith Kidd & Director Roniecia Harris inside the Access Sacramento Remote Truck for Game of the Week.
|
The primary staffing change this season is in the broadcast truck. Long time GOTW crew member and back-up game director Roniecia Harris has been named as the regular director for the broadcasts, and will be calling camera shots, instant replays, and graphics for the 2013 football season.
Harris' promotion comes as former GOTW director and Cosumnes River College Television Professor Gary Martin moves into administration as Access Sacramento's new Executive Director, replacing Ron Cooper who retired last month. Harris has an Associate of Arts degree in Television Production from Cosumnes River College and joined Access Sacramento as a part-time on-call member of the production crew in 2009.
 |
Engineer in Charge Richard Langley (left) and Assistant Engineer Danny Mendonsa set up wireless audio and video gear at the sidelines for Game of the week last year.
|
The technical set up for the games will be monitored by long-time Engineer In Charge Richard Langley and Assistant Engineer Danny Mendonsa.

Top Sac Beginner Rock Bands Recorded for TV Special
The Access Sacramento Hometown TV crew documented top beginner rock bands Sunday at the 33rd annual Skip's Music "Stairway to Stardom" competition at the downtown Crest Theater.
Of 11 competing band, judges selected "War Paint" for first place, "Contrast" for second place, and "Failed Diplomacy" for 3rd place.
The competition began eight weeks ago when beginning musicians signed up for training. They were auditioned, placed with other beginners, and then challenged to collaborate, write their own songs, and prepare three original compositions on stage in front of judges, fans and TV cameras.
Stage host Charlie Thomas from Sacramento's "The Eagle" 96.9 FM radio station hosted the event.
Skip's Music TV announcer Stacey Anderson joined the television crew by hosting interviews with the band members immediately after they performed.
The finished Hometown TV special will include one of the bands thee performed songs and the interviews with the band members. An air date for the special will be announced for sometime in September.
Access Sacramento used four cameras and a crew of 10, with the camera mix being fed onto the stage screen, lobby and Green Room so that bands and crowd could see what was ahead.
Copies of the program are available by calling the Access Sacramento office at 916-456-8600.

A Brief Introduction from an Access Sacramento Intern
By David Stewart
Hello again Access members! So you may remember reading an article done by me in a previous newsletter and so I thought I should give a brief bio about me to help you get to know me better.
You may remember that I am currently interning here at Access Sacramento's Main Office. I am enjoying it very much and love meeting the members and being given the privilege to help see that your needs are met. I am currently enrolled at American River College, or ARC as my fellow classmates and I call it, and am a Journalism major.
My dream is to be a journalist for my favorite magazine, Game Informer. Because this dream, you may see articles written by me every now and then. I like video games, drawing, writing and am currently in the pre-production phase of a video gaming TV show that I want to make. If you love video games or gaming of any kind, I encourage you to come down o help me make the show possible.
I am friendly, outgoing and love to help people. I am very grateful to Access for giving me this opportunity to intern and am looking forward to helping you, the members and lifeblood of Access Sacramento. Hope to see you in the Main Office and will make your experience as enjoyable as possible. Until next time!
