Eaton Turner Hires US Army Veteran
Jewelers for Veterans Foundation Helps Ortivez Begin Personal Renaissance
Helena, Montana - 30 October 2012
Eaton Turner Jewelry, a Montana jewelry retailer since 1885, today announced the hiring of Levi Ortivez, an honorably discharged, disabled U.S. Army veteran, who had put himself through the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and achieved the Graduate Gemologist degree.
"Levi is the second vet we have hired at Eaton Turner," said Don Johnson, the store's owner. "Their work ethic, commitment and dedication are outstanding. We owe such a debt to our veterans for their service," continued Johnson, "I am thrilled we're doing well enough to be able to give them a new beginning."
Ortivez has begun work on the jeweler's bench at Eaton Turner performing a variety of skilled services including finishing, laser welding, stone setting, sizing and repairs.
"It's great to have a new place to start fresh for myself and my family," said Ortivez. "Don and the entire team at Eaton Turner have been very supportive. I was also fortunate to get the assistance of the Jewelers For Veterans organization," continued Ortivez. "J4V really put me in front of a lot of potential employers in the industry and helped me find the right spot."
Jewelers for Veterans Chairman, Ralph Destino, Chairman-Emeritus of Cartier, said: "We are excited for Levi and happy to have helped him along the way in his personal renaissance. Military veterans returning from Iraq, Afghanistan and other overseas missions face high unemployment rates as they look for jobs in a down economy. Jewelers for Veterans is devoted to providing these veterans with a pathway to economic success in an exciting industry where they can put their skills to good use."
