SUMMER IS HERE!
June starts out with BMWVC getting into the summer groove. Cam's Gear-Up Getaway, Howard's Dual Sport Ride and Don's Street Ride are all set for the first, second and third Saturday's respectively. Also the second Ground Breakers Ride is set for June 30th.
This month we will be hosting a Crash Course for Safety on the 27th, read about it below.
World Superbike Fans rejoice! BMW gets on the podium in the last two World Super Bike weekends including 1st place in last weeks race in Utah with the S1000RR.

| Crash Course for Safety |
If you ride a motorcycle, crashing is an unfortunate possible truth.
In 1992 California voters effectively thrust a motorcycle helmet down on your head. While we understand that many believe it should be a persons choice, we imagine & hope that most of you voluntarily seconded the motion, and wear a riding jacket, perhaps some gloves, maybe even protective riding pants & boots. We at BMWVC would like to arm you with even more safety gear: INFORMATION.
On June 27th at 6:15pm, Laine MacTague of Earthrider and Ride Ambassador Neil Reynolds will join us in presenting a workshop on crash preparedness and survival to raise awareness and inspire discussion. We will talk about methods for avoidance and survival of motorcycle related situations including vehicle collisions and remote location incidents.
Group size is limited so please register early.
Snacks and drinks will be provided, and there is no charge for this event.

| Butch's Birthday Ride |
When Butch Wallace passed away in March of 2011 we decided to honor his life by hosting a ride on his birthday. We here at BMWVC have decided to make this an annual event to remember our friend and coworker. The guys have picked and strung together some of Butch's favorite roads of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, and it is sure to be a beautiful ride. We would like to invite those of you that knew Butch and would like to, join us for the day. Sunday June 10th at BMWVC. Meet at the shop at 8:00 am and depart at 9:00 am.
Please RSVP so we know how much cake to get!
We will be hosting a lunch stop somewhere along the route and birthday cake will be included!

| Ground Breakers - Trail Ride |
In continuing with our novice dual sport ride format we will be holding the second Ground Breakers ride on Saturday June 30th. The first part of this series was a very basic training session focusing on balance and skill drills. This part of the series will be an introduction to some very easy dirt roads and trails in the local mountains with frequent stops to cover different techniques for dealing with the unexpected. There will be opportunities to try some challenging obstacles but always with a way around and as always this will be a low pressure ride, you don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with. A light lunch will be provided on the trail.
Laine MacTague of Earthrider will be joining us to offer his experience and teaching skills.
This ride is intended for entry level riders or moderately experienced riders. Intermediate and advanced riders may find the pace slow and as space is limited we ask that you leave the space for those that can truly benefit. Seasoned riders with a friend or companion rider that is a novice are welcome join us with your friend but be warned we may put you to work!
The ride will meet at BMWVC and depart the store at 9:00 am.

"EarthRider" is dedicated to facilitating dual sport/adventure riders in enriching their riding experiences and enhancing their riding skills. Don't know where to ride? Don't have time to plan a ride? Aren't quite sure how to ride? Don't know anybody to ride with? Come riding with us! Th e adventure you join us for might last hours, or it might last days. Either way, you will always have opportunities to practice riding skills you know, learn one that you don't, meet old friends, and make new ones."

| June 2012 Photo Contest | 
The rules are simple.
It must have a BMW motorcycle in it, it must be a picture you took and have the legal right to publish and it must be in good taste. One entry per person and the previous month's winner is not eligible. Sorry but we have to keep it fair.
By submitting a picture you are giving BMW Motorcycles of Ventura County permission to publish it on our website, Facebook page and newsletter free of any payment, except for the winner which will be entitled to the BMWVC Hat and $50 Gift Card!
Winner will be announced in the July newsletter and on Facebook.
