Greetings!
Here is July Newsletter. It has been a very busy month for me ending last Saturday with the 16th Festival of Light. I've been working hard on the next one the 17th on 21st September and that one is more or less full. Great because it is only 10 weeks away.
Details below of one of the new workshops, I only have three places left on that one so don't leave it too late if you would like to book in. Places are confirmed on receipt of the cheque for the booking.
I will soon have news of something else that some of you may be interested in, I will post this on Facebook and my main website www.drelizabethanndiamond.com I should have details up by the end of this week.
I will be working in Glastonbury this weekend so pop along for a chat, details below. No time to chat at the Festival of Light as I was run off my feet!
I fully intend to do a bit of gardening now that I have completed the 16th Festival.
Just to say that I have very little time to answer the phone nowadays so please email instead if you can as this is my preferred form of contact.

I am offering workshops again and I have decided to facilitate a series from my home in Weston-super-Mare. There will be a maximum of 5 participants on each one which will mean that there will be plenty of time for individual focus. Three places left for Saturday 28th September 2013.
The first ones will cover safe, simple and effective natural remedies including food as medicine, herbs, essential oils, spices, homeopathic and naturopathic remedies. Masses of fresh herbs grow in my organic garden. Everything will be backed up with some of my selected eBooks to provide a mass of information for personal and family use or for use by therapists and healers.
The first available date is 28th September 2013. Arrive from 12 noon, starting promptly at 1pm through to 5pm @ £35 each. The railway station and main Bristol X1 bus stop are just 5 minutes walk away, the number 7 bus stops about a minute away, plus easy parking available next to the house. Snowflake Obsidian
Obsidian, the Stone of Scorpio, is considered in astrological circles to have the element of fire and related to "Root Chakra" which is the base located at the very bottom of the spine.
Snowflake Obsidian falls under the sign of Sagittarius. Snowflake Obsidian is sometimes associated with Virgo even though obsidian is considered a gemstone of Aquarius.
Many people believe snowflake obsidian brings purity and balance to the body, mind and spirit through mystical and astrological properties.
Believers give obsidian a healing capacity beneficial to veins, skeleton and skin plus the added protection from physical and emotional harm.
Both Apache and Aztec placed much importance in obsidian, fashioning both tools and jewellery from the mineral.
Snowflake Obsidian was referred to as the Book of Laws Stone by Native Americans who believed the mineral was a guardian to the Great Spirit. Shamans often carried this stone as a powerful talisman to avert evil and bring good fortune.

Chinese herbs contain dangerous pesticides
01 July 2013 Courtesy of What Doctors Don't Tell You
If you're regularly taking Chinese herbs, you might want to check that they have been grown organically. Many herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine contain a cocktail of pesticides, including several that are considered to be 'extremely hazardous', a Greenpeace analysis has revealed this week.
The Greenpeace researchers have found that 32 of the 36 herbs imported from China that they tested contained three or more pesticides, and samples of honeysuckle had up to 26. Seventeen samples contained pesticides that are classified as "highly or extremely hazardous" by the World Health Organization.
The 36 samples were purchased in the US, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, and all had been imported from medical suppliers in China. The herbs included chrysanthemum, wolfberry, honeysuckle, dried lily bulb, san qi, Chinese date and rosebud.
Long-term exposure to pesticide residues in food can cause an accumulation of the toxic chemicals around the body, including in the limbs and organs, which can cause hormone disruption and reproductive abnormalities.

Note: I have always felt that Chinese herbs work best with Chinese people. When I was training we were made aware that if we prescribed them we needed to make sure they were from a reputable supplier.

Snapdragon
A Modern Herbal, first published in 1931, by Mrs. M. Grieve
Snapdragon
Botanical: Antirrhinum magus (LINN.) Family: N.O. Scrophularaceae
Part Used--leaves
Snapdragon is closely allied to the Toadflaxes. It is really not truly a native herb, but has become naturalized in many places, on old walls and chalk cliffs, being an escape from gardens, where it has been long cultivated.
The botanical name, Antirrhinum, refers to the snout-like form of the flower.
Medicinal Action and Uses -
The plant has bitter and stimulant properties, and the leaves of this and several allied species have been employed on the Continent in cataplasms to tumours and ulcers.
It was valued in olden times like the Toadflax as a preservative against witchcraft.
The numerous seeds yield a fixed oil by expression, said to be little inferior to olive oil, for the sake of which it has been cultivated in Russia.
---Other Species--- Antirrhinum Orontium (Linn.), the Calf's Snout or Small Snapdragon, an annual found occasionally in cornfields, in lime or chalk soil, with narrow, hairy leaves and small, reddish flowers, resembling those of the Snapdragon in form, is said to be poisonous, but the fact is not well established.
Its properties seem similar to those of the other species.
The name, Orontium, given it by Dodonaeus, is an old mediaeval generic name for the Snapdragon.

Leave this world, Nature says,

My Amazon Kindle Books
NOTE: I have started work on a new eBook on Simple Herbal and other Natural Remedies. I hope to finish this one my 20th by the end of the year. This will be the biggest that I have produced.
The following eBooks that I have put together are all available on Amazon Kindle. Most are either $1.23 or 77p. The one with the asterisk is $3.07 and £1.92 The UK price is governed by the dollar exchange rate so can fluctuate a little. I made the decision to price them very reasonably so they were accessible to all, preferring to sell lots for a little rather than at a premium rate. You don't need a Kindle as you can download to your PC and Amazon gives you the software immediately to do this. I was offering all these as eCourses and those who have bought them can still return your coursework to gain your Continued Professional Development (CPD) Point certificates. If any of you still wish to do any eCourses just contact me and we can arrange this.

The Streetsweeper
"If a man is called to be a streetsweeper,
he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted,
or Beethoven played music,
or Shakespeare wrote poetry.
He should sweep streets so well
that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say,
here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well."
Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968)
