BOARD SET TO ADOPT URBAN WATER MGMT PLAN JUNE 7
The MMWD Board of Directors is scheduled to adopt an updated Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) at the June 7 board meeting. The State of California requires water providers to update and submit an UWMP to the State Department of Water Resources every five years.

MMWD held two public hearings on the updated plan, one on April 19 and another on May 17, to receive public comments. For questions about the UWMP or the process for updating it, please contact Lucy Croy, Associate Engineer (lcroy@marinwater.org or 415-945-1590).

The draft UWMP is available on MMWD's website under Water Supply Planning and at local libraries.

MMWD MEETS APRIL DROUGHT GOAL; NEW STATE REGULATIONS ANNOUNCED
MMWD customers continue to excel at conservation, having achieved a 22% water savings for the month of April 2016, bringing our 11-month cumulative savings to 21%. The cumulative savings target set by the state for MMWD is 20% compared to water use in 2013. Thanks to customers' ongoing conservation efforts, MMWD has met the target every month since the regulations went into effect in June 2015.

On May 18, 2016 the State Water Resources Control Board announced modifications to the state regulations to reflect the different, and in some cases, improved, water supply conditions throughout the state and to allow more flexibility. Instead of meeting a target set by the state, each water supplier is required to self-certify an adequate water supply availability assuming the possibility of three additional dry years and using a demand figure based on the 2013 and 2014 averages. By late June each water supplier is required by late June to determine the level of ongoing conservation needed now to ensure adequate supplies under those conditions and to notify the state. The MMWD Board of Directors will consider this matter in June.

The new state regulation and related documents are on the State Water Board's Emergency Conservation Regulation web page.
