RESERVOIRS STILL ABOVE AVERAGE DESPITE DRY MONTH
In spite of a dry January, MMWD's reservoir levels are still above normal thanks to the heavy drenching Marin received in December. The district has asked customers to keep conserving, however, and our records show they are indeed reducing water use.

Here are the current water statistics:
  • Reservoir Levels - As of January 25, reservoir storage is 78,076 acre-feet,* or 98% of capacity. The average for this date is 64,636 acre-feet, or 81% of capacity.
  • Rainfall - Rainfall this year to date (July 1, 2014- January 25, 2015) is 31.43 inches. Average for the same period is 28.17 inches; last year on this date we had 3.79 inches.
  • Water Use - Water use for the week of January 19-25 averaged 16.63 million gallons per day, compared to 20.67 million gallons per day for the same week last year.
  • Creek Releases - During the month of December 2014 MMWD released 163 million gallons, or 499 acre-feet, into Lagunitas and Walker creeks in west Marin for habitat enhancement.

Water use and reservoir figures are updated weekly and can be found on our Water Watch page.

*One acre-foot is 325,851 gallons
