Funny Friday...Friday Laugh...
A little humor to end the week
May 17, 2013
Older Americans Month: May 2013
A meeting with the National Council of Senior Citizens resulted in President John F. Kennedy designating May 1963 as Senior Citizens Month, encouraging the nation to pay tribute to older people across the country. In 1980, President Jimmy Carter's proclamation changed the name to Older Americans Month, a time to celebrate those 65 and older through ceremonies, events and public recognition.
41.4 million - The number of people who were 65 and older in the United States on July 1, 2011, up from 40.3 million on April 1, 2010 (Census Day). In 2011, this group accounted for 13.3 percent of the total population. 92.0 million - Projected population of people 65 and older in 2060. People in this age group would comprise just over one in five U.S. residents at that time. Of this number, 18.2 million would be 85 or older. 2.4 million - Projected number of baby boomers in 2060. At that time, the youngest baby boomers would be 96 years old. 2056 - The year in which, for the first time, the population 65 and older would outnumber people younger than 18 in the U.S. Nearly 17% - Projected percentage of the global population that would be 65 and older in 2050, up from 8 percent today. In 2005, Europe became the first major world region where the population 65 and older outnumbered those younger than 15. By 2050, it would be joined by Northern America (which includes Canada and the United States), Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and Oceania (which includes Australia and New Zealand).

| The past | |
Jimmy takes his wife Susan to a disco.
There's a guy on the dance floor giving it everything - break dancing, moon walking, back flips, the works.
Susan turns to her husband and says:
"See that guy? 25 years ago he proposed to me and I turned him down for you."
Jimmy replies, "Looks like he's still celebrating!!!
| Endangered eating | |
A hiker was brought before a judge and charged with killing a condor on the Endangered Species list. When he pleaded guilty, the judge asked for an explanation.
"Your Honor, I was hiking in the mountains and I got lost," the hiker said. "I wandered around for days, and I ran out of food. I was starving, so when I spotted the condor swooping down on a rabbit I ran as fast as I could and caught it before it could fly away. I built a fire and cooked it, and just when I finished eating it, the rangers found me. I would have died if I hadn't eaten that bird, Your Honor."
He seemed sincere, so the judge gave him a fine and set him free. As he turned to go, the judge asked, "Just out of curiosity, how did the condor taste?"
"Not bad," the hiker replied. "Sort of a cross between a bald eagle and a spotted owl."
| Dentist Jokes | |
Patient: How much will it cost me to have this tooth extracted?
Dentist: $300
Patient: $300 for just a few minutes work, that expensive.
Dentist: O.K. I'll pull it out slowly if you prefer.
Good Dentist?
When a new dentist set up in town he quickly acquired a reputation of being the 'Painless' dentist. However a local little girl called Gemima disputed his claim.
'He's a fake!' Gemima told her friends. 'He's not painless at all. When he stuck his finger in my mouth I bit him - and he screamed like anyone else.'
| Waspish Problem | |
The man who is the world's leading expert on wasps is walking through Droitwich one day when he passes an old vinyl record shop.
Looking in the window, an album catches his eye: "The Sounds of Wasps from Around the World". He enters the store and asks the salesgirl if he can listen to the album.
"Sure...just go into the booth and put on the headphones," replies the shop assistant.
He does this and listens to ten minutes of buzzing noises until he can take no more.....he leaves the booth and says to the salesgirl, "I'm an expert on wasps and I have to say that I didn't recognise any of those noises".
"Oh, I'm so sorry," answers the assistant, "I was playing you the B side."

| No laughing in the woods | |
A German has been ordered to stop laughing out loud in the woods after joggers complained that he was disturbing the peace. Accountant Joachim Bahrenfeld, 54, from Datteln said he goes to the woods after work and at weekends to have a good belly laugh. "It's part of living for me, like eating, drinking and breathing. I feel much better when I laugh, it's freeing and healthy," he said.
Now he faces a £4,000 [$7000USD] fine or six months jail if he laughs out loud again after a jogger successfully took him to court saying he was disturbing the peace.
German laugh expert Susanne Maier, who founded the German Laughter Academy which aims to teach serious minded Germans to lighten up, said, "Mr Bahrenfeld has been doing what we advise our students to do and that is to find a place they like to have a good old giggle. It would do the person who made the complaint and the judge good to come along to our school and learn for themselves the benefits of letting it all go."
| Eye Test | |
A short Polish immigrant went to the DVLA to apply for a driver's license.
First, of course, he had to take an eye sight test.
The optician showed him a card with the letters. On the bottom row were these letters:
'C Z W I X N O S T A C Z.'
"Can you read this?" the optician asked.
"Read it?" the Polish guy replied - "I know the fellow."
| Smart Master | |
A young man visited a wise master for advice.
"Master, what must I do to become a success in life?"
"I will show you." The master led his visitor to a stream near his house and invited him to step into the water. Then the master suddenly grabbed the young man by the neck and plunged him face down in the stream, holding him while he struggled for breath.
Just as the man was about to lose consciousness, the master pulled him up. "What did you want most as you were beneath the water?" he asked.
"Air," the young man gasped.
"When you want your goals as badly as you wanted that air, then you will find success."
