Why follow the crowd, when you can be unique? Be yourself and disregard everyone's critique.
Why not live at random and do the unexpected? Make mistakes without the hate to say "I stand corrected." Why not follow your dreams and allow them to come true? While you're there, wander off in search of something new. Why not have the courage to stand and speak your mind? Be the first to take that step ahead for all mankind. Why not dance off-beat while singing out of tune? Let them laugh, yet never stop all through the afternoon. Why not scream out loud and let yourself feel free? And take a chance without the promise of a guarantee. Why not take a left, when everyone goes right? Make a choice and choose the blàck when they all choose the whìte. Why not try to shine, instead of fading grày? Be yourself and just be you, forgetting Them and They.

FREE Dementia/Alzheimer's Workshop Series at Dodge Park Rest Home
The first workshop will take place on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. This workshop is in celebration of the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners Alzheimer's and Dementia Staff Education Week, February 14th to the 21st.

| Dodge Park Rest Home Alzheimer's / Dementia Caregivers Support Group | | |
 Our next support group will take place on Tuesday April 9, 2013 at
6pm (2nd Tuesday of each month).
The support group meeting is FREE
and open to the public.

The support group leader is Elaine Kapperman, LICSW.
Ms. Kapperman has many years of experience with grief counseling, elder
and caregiver issues, coping with illness, EMDR, relaxation techniques, child treatment. She is running Dodge Park support group since 2007. |

| Managers task.. | A group of managers are given an assignment to measure the height of a flagpole. So they go out to the flagpole with ladders and tape measures, and they're falling off the ladders and dropping the tape measures. The whole thing is just a mess. An engineer comes along and sees what they're trying to do, walks over, pulls the flagpole out of the ground, lays it flat, measures it from end to end, gives the measurement to one of the managers and walks away. After the engineer has gone, one manager turns to another and laughs: "Isn't that just like an engineer? We're looking for the height and he gives us the length!"

| A believer or not? | An atheist was taking a walk through the woods,admiring all that evolution had created.
"What majestic trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!", he said to himself. As he was walking along the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. When he turned to see what the cause was, he saw a 7-foot grizzly charging right towards him. He ran as fast as he could. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing, He ran even faster, crying in fear. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. His heart was pounding and he tried to run even faster. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up, but saw the bear right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him.
At that moment, the Atheist cried out "Oh my God!...." Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent. Even the river stopped moving.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky, "You deny my existence for all of these years; teach others I don''''t exist; and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?" The atheist looked directly into the light "It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask You to treat me as Christian now, but perhaps could you make the bear a Christian?" "Very well," said the voice. The light went out. The river ran again. And the sounds of the forest resumed. And then the bear dropped his right paw ..... brought both paws together...bowed his head and spoke: "Lord, for this food which I am about to receive, I am truly thankful." | |
| Fire-Arm...for real? | | A lady was filling her tank at a gas station, smoking a cigarette, even though all the signs say not to. The fumes that came out of the gas tank ignited, severely burning her hands. But it also lit up her arm, too! Instead of rolling on the ground to put it out, she panicked. She took off running down the street. A police car was at the intersection where it happened and he tried to stop her to put out her arm, but she just kept running and screaming. All the officer could think of doing was to shoot her. This took everyone by surprise. The officer ran over to her and put the fire out, then called for an ambulance. When questioned about his course of action to stop her, the officer said, "My only thought was to stop her. After all, she was waving a fire-arm. " | |
| Performing miracles.. | One day a new pastor moved to a small town. He wanted to impress his congregation and make them believe he could perform miracles. So he went into an animal store where he bought a parrot. He taught the parrot to speak and to perform some tricks. He decided to perform a miracle for his sermon the following Sunday. On Saturday night, he bought two loaves of bread and gave them to the parrot. He told the parrot to go onto the roof of the church, and during service the next morning when he says, "God, send down bread!", the parrot must send down into the church one loaf at a time. During service the next morning, the pastor cried out to his congregation, "I can perform miracles! I can make bread come down from Heaven! God, send down bread!" And a loaf of bread fell from Heaven. The congregation was in awe of the pastor. They could not believe that he could perform miracles. They said, "do it again!" The pastor cried out again, "God, send down bread!" Yet another loaf of bread fell down. The congregation began to praise the pastor. "Again! Again!" they shouted. However, he got carried away in his excitement that he forgot were only two loaves of bread he had given the parrot. So he cried for more bread a third time. Then the congregation was astounded to hear a voice answered back. "You think it's a running bakery I have up here?"

| Send it back | George went on a vacation to the Middle East with his Family including his mother-in-law.
During their vacation in Jerusalem George's Mother-in-law died. With the death certificate in his hand, George went to the American Consulate Office to make arrangements to send the body back to the United States for a proper burial. The Consul told George that to send the body back to the United States for burial is very, very expensive. It could cost him as much as $5,000.00. The Consul told him, in most cases the person responsible for the remains normally decides to bury the body here in Jerusalem. This would only cost him $150.00. George thinks for sometime and answers, "I don't care how much it will cost to send the body back; that's what I want to do. " The Consul says "You must have loved your Mother-in-law very much considering the difference in price." "No, it's not that," says George. "You see, I know of a case many, many years ago of a man that was buried here in Jerusalem. On the third day he arose from the dead! I just can't take that chance!
