Have a Hearing Screening if Hearing Loss is Suspected
Hearing loss is one of the most prevalent chronic health conditions in the United States, affecting people of all ages. According to the Hearing Alliance of America, more than 28 million Americans have significant hearing loss. Advancing age is the number-one reason for hearing loss.
A hearing loss can happen when any part of the ear is not working in the usual way. This includes the outer ear, middle ear, inner ear, hearing (acoustic) nerve, and auditory system. Hearing loss can vary greatly among people and can be due to any of a number of causes.
While no formal guidelines exist for hearing screenings, an initial screening at age 50 is recommended. If no problem is detected, another screening should be conducted in five years. If a problem is found, annual testing is recommended.
If you can answer "yes" to two or more of the following, there is a good chance that your ears aren't working as well as they should, indicating that you should have a hearing test:
- Others tell you the TV is too loud.
- You feel you can hear, but understanding all the words is a problem.
- You have difficulty following conversation in a crowd or noisy environment.
- You think that people are mumbling.
- You frequently ask for repetition or ask another person what was said.
- You feel that others are talking too quietly.
Although most hearing loss doesn't cause true physical symptoms, it does impact social relationships, emotional health, and overall well-being. Discovering and treating hearing loss can significantly decrease those effects.

| Washington Talk | I've decided that from now on, I'm going to answer every question like a presidential candidate. "Bryan, what are you gonna do this weekend?" "Thats a great question and an important one. And I WILL do something this weekend. But let me take a step back and answer a broader question. What are we ALL doing this weekend? As a nation? As a world? This weekend, I will do something comprehensive and robust, yet fun. We all should." "But, what are you going to do?" "What I'm going to do involves three things. First, its going to be relaxing. Second, its going to be enjoyable. Lastly, I'm going to make sure that it is cost-effective, so I don't get into a deficit. Four weeks ago, I said I was going to do something - and I did. This weekend will be no different!"

| Special passenger | The Pope is traveling by limo across America to make appearances. One day he sees that his driver is taking him on an old dirt highway and the area is fairly desolate. He asks his driver, "You know, I've always had a chauffeur. I bet it's fun to drive. Would you mind if I gave it a try?" The driver is a bit suprised, but agrees. After all, he is the Pope The driver gets in the back of the limosine and lets the Pope take the wheel. The Pope is having such a good time that he speeds up. As he goes around a bend, a cop clocks him speeding and pulls him over. The officer walks to the window and upon seeing who it is, radios headquarters. Cop: "I just pulled over a car for speeding, but it's someone special Should I give him a ticket?" H.Q.: " Is it the governor?" Cop: "Bigger." H.Q.: "The President?!?" Cop: "Bigger." H.Q.: "Damn! Who's bigger than the president?!?" Cop: "I don't know, but he's got the Pope as a chauffeur!"

| UNDERSTANDING ENGINEERS | |
To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half-empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be
What is the difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers? Mechanical Engineers build weapons and Civil Engineers build targets.
Three engineering students were gathered together discussing the possible designers of the human body. One said, "It was a mechanical engineer. Just look at all the joints." Another said, "No, it was an electrical engineer. The nervous system has many thousands of electrical connections." The last one said, "Actually it must have been a civil engineer. Who else would run a toxic waste pipeline through a recreational area?
Normal people believe that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Engineers believe that if it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet
| 50 Dollars is 50 Dollars | |
Joe and his wife Jackie went to the state fair every year, and every year Joe would say," Jackie, I'd like to ride in that helicopter." Jackie always replied, "I know Joe, but that helicopter ride is 50 dollars and 50 dollars is 50 dollars."
One year Jackie and Joe went to the fair, and Joe said "Jackie I'm 85 years old. if I don't ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance." Jackie replied, "Joe, that helicopter is 50 dollars and 50 dollars is 50 dollars." The pilot over heard the couple and said, "folks I'll make you a deal. I'll take the both of you for a ride; if you can stay quiet for the entire ride and not say a word I won't charge you! but if you say one word, it's 50 dollars."
Joe and Jackie agreed and up they went. the pilot did all kinds of fancy manoeuvres, but not a word was heard. he did his dare devil tricks over and over again, but still not a word. When they landed, the pilot turned to Joe and said, "by golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn't. I'm impressed!"
Joe replied, "well I almost said something when Jacjie fell out, but, you know, 50 dollars is 50 dollars!"
| The IRS Revenue | Rabbi Rabinovitz answers his phone. "Hello?" "Hello, is this Rabbi Rabinovitz?" "It is." "This is the the URS office. Can you help us?" "I'll try." "Do you know Sam Cohen?" "I do." "Is he a member of your congregation?" "He is." "Did he donate $10,000 to the synagogue rebuilding fund last year?" "He will!" | |
