 Today's sermon

The pastor stood before his congregation and said: "I have good news and bad news. The good news is that we have all the funds necessary to begin adding a new wing to our church."

The congregation cheered.

The pastor continued: "The bad news is that it's still in your pockets."

One Out Of Four People In This Country Is Mentally Unbalanced ..... For Real....???

Hopefully the above heading made you chuckle. However, there is a story behind the headline. The slogan was originally devised by Ann Lander to gain the attention of her audience.

'One out of For People in this country is Mentally Unbalanced. Think of your 3 closest friends... if they seem okay, then you're The One.'

Big Frank

Big Frank was having his hair styled at the hairdresser's when a lorry smashed into a car, outside. Draped in a cape, his hair divided with aluminium clips, Frank, an ex-paratrooper corporal raced out to the car and found the driver unhurt.

The lorry driver, however, was slumped over the wheel, unconscious. Big Frank lost no time in applying his army acquired CPR techniques, including mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The lorry driver recovered consciousness several times, but kept passing out again.

Soon the ambulance arrived with the paramedics and took over, and Frank returned to his barber's seat. "I just don't understand why he kept passing out," he said to the hairdresser. "I did everything they taught me."

"Well, put yourself in the lorry driver's place," said the hairdresser. "He's driving down the street without a care in the world. The next thing he knows, he's waking up to see some big guy in a green cape with a head full of wires pounding on his chest and kissing him. You'd pass out too"

A concern mother

A concerned mother went to a psychiatrist's office. "Doctor, I'd like you to evaluate my teenage son."
Immediately the doctor replied, "Well, he's suffering from a transient psychosis with intermittent rage disorder, punctuated by episodic mood swings, but his prognosis is good for full recovery."
Puzzled, the mother said, "But you haven't even examined him yet!"

"You did say he's a teenage boy, didn't you?"

Art for art's sake?

A dignified old woman was among the visitors to an art gallery on the opening night of a new exhibition. Suddenly one abstract painting caught her eye, and she spent many minutes looking at the swirls of color in it.
Turning to the artist, who was standing nearby with a glass of wine, she asked, "What is this?"
The artist gave her a condescending smile. "That, ma'am, is supposed to be a mother holding her child."
The woman sniffed. "Supposed to be? Then why isn't it?"

An unsuccessful fishing trip

Two brothers decided to go on their first fishing trip. They spent a small fortune on equipment: rods, reels, boots, lures, etc. The cabin and boat they rented in the woods weren't cheap either.

By the end of the week, they had caught only one fish. As they packed up to leave, one brother said, disgusted, "Do you realize that one fish we caught cost us nearly fifteen hundred dollars apiece?"

The other brother said, "Wow. It's a good thing we didn't catch any more."

Any landing you can walk away from . . .

Two friends were all alone on a small airplane when the pilot suddenly had a heart attack...

Two friends were all alone on a small airplane when the pilot suddenly had a heart attack and passed out. He was still breathing, but unconscious, as the plane began sinking toward the ground.

"Don't worry!" cried one friend. "I'll land this baby!"

Fortunately, they were near an airport. Seizing the controls, the passenger managed to pull the plane out of its dive and ease it down toward the runway.

The landing was bumpy. Suddenly the other friend yelled, "Watch out for that fence!"

Ahead of them stood a tall, barbed-wire fence. The amateur pilot threw the engine in reverse, jammed on the brakes, and fought the plane to a shuddering stop, just inches from the barrier.

"Wow," he said. "This sure is a short runway."

His friend looked from side to side. "Yeah, but I wonder why it's so wide.""
