Reading: A Family Affair happens on Saturday, March 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the James Lee Community Center,
2855 Annandale Road, Falls Church, VA 22042. This is a family literacy day put on by the Literacy Council of Northern Virginia and Signature Sponsor Verizon. A suggested donation of $5 will benefit the LCNV's Student Scholarship & Advancement Fund. Children will be amazed by 11 local performing artists who will bring books to life through a variety of venues: SEE a Book (on stage performances by puppeteers and musicians); HEAR a Book (storytellers); BECOME a Book (audience participation); READ & WRITE a Book (reading/writing activities; book giveaways); CLICK a Book (guided computer activities). In addition to participating in these events, each child in attendance receives a book to take home and has the opportunity to meet WETA Kids Clifford the Big Red Dog! National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW): The Virginia Department of the Treasury's Unclaimed Property Division
may be holding your un-cashed paychecks, lost stocks, bonds, dividends, utility deposits, insurance claims and more. Stop by to meet with representatives from the VA Department of Treasury to see if any money is owed to you. Last year, over $30,000 was returned to consumers during NCPW.

The Independent Living Project is a free program that offers education and yoga or other exercise to increase strength and balance for adults over 60 years of age and younger adults with physical disabilities. The Northern Virginia Dental Society (NVDS) is hosting its 10th Mission of Mercy (M.O.M.) Project on March 15 & 16 at the Northern Virginia Community College, Medical Education Campus in Springfield, VA. Numerous volunteers from the dental profession will be working side-by-side with participating social service agencies and community volunteers to provide care for an anticipated 800 plus patients over this two-day period. On Sunday, March 17, at 4:00 p.m., the Reston Community Orchestra will be presenting "Birthday Boys," their third concert of the season. Dress Up with Grown-Ups Gala, Saturday, April 6: Charles Mann, former Redskin, three-time Super Bowl champion, businessman and philanthropist, will emcee the Medical Care for Children Partnership Foundation's annual Dress Up with Grown-ups Gala on April 6 at The Mason Inn on the GMU campus. This gala is designed for people to bring their children and grandchildren if they wish...as long as they "dress up"! The gala benefits the MCCP Foundation which provides medical and dental care to children in low-income families who do not have access to doctors and dentists.
