Author-Illustrator Lizzy Rockwell to Visit Kindergarten and Grade 1 Classes

March 12 and 13

We are delighted to have Lizzy Rockwell to present writing workshops for each Kindergarten and grade 1 class. During the workshops she will describe how she works and talk about the elements of a story, such as character, plot, point of view, setting, sequence, and emotion. She will wrap up by drawing a story using input from the students. Lizzy is the illustrator of over 20 children's books by a variety of authors including her mother, Anne Rockwell. She wrote and illustrated Good Enough to Eat: A Kid's Guide to Food and Nutrition, Hello Baby!, and The Busy Body Book: A Kid's Guide to Fitness. Lizzy went to OGS and grew up on Raymond Street.
Sponsored by the Curriculum Enrichment Committee.

Save the Date: OGS Progressive Dinner May 4

The Progressive Dinner is the OG PTA's second largest fundraiser. It starts with separate cocktail parties for each grade then continues when each guest "progresses" to dinner at a host family's house. Invitations to follow next week.

This event cannot happen without host volunteers! Please volunteer to host or co-host a dinner or cocktail party for your child's grade. If you can host or have any questions regarding the event, please contact your grade representative by March 22.

Parent Nominations

Children may also be nominated for additional testing by their parents. The Parent Nomination Form will be available at your school office and on the ALP website after March 15 and must be returned to your school office by March 27.
