Parent Writing Workshop
Tuesday, January 22, 7 pm, Media Center
Come and learn what "writer's workshop" is, and how it works in each grade. Writer's workshop is a framework for teaching writing that supports building student writers. Also shared during this presentation will be some of the specific grade-level goals, expectations and practices. Principal Raneri and teachers will show you how writing is taught at OGS and how you can help your children with their writing homework, when needed. The OG PTA will also give a brief update on budget and upcoming events.

Board of Education Meetings
Thursday, January 24 Glenville School, 7 pm
Board of Education meetings are open to the public and attendance is welcomed and encouraged. These meetings are a good source of information on Greenwich's education policy and planning. They allow the public to get to know the BOE members and hear from the Superintendent, and offer a platform for the public to share questions, concerns, and praise about Greenwich's education system. Please consider making time for at least one BOE meeting each year. The full schedule can be found here.
February Break Changes
Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey regarding February break. Old Greenwich School was split down the middle on this decision.
The BOE has decided that the calendar for next year, 2013 - 14, will remain the same. Winter Recess will be February 10 to 14 and schools will also be closed for President's Day on February 17. The calendar for 2014 - 15 has been changed so that the Winter Recess will be a four day holiday. Schools will be closed February 13 to 16.
Last Day of School Update for 2012 - 13
The last day of school for students will be June 24. This includes one snow day. If that does not occur school will be released for the summer on Friday, June 21.
In the event of more than one snow day, make-up days will be scheduled on the following days (in order): April 19, April 18, April 17, April 16 and April 15. Please plan accordingly.
To view and/or print the district calendars, please go to the Greenwich Public School website.
