The OG PTA is thrilled to announce that author Chris Van Dusen will conduct writing workshops for Grade 2, 3 and 4 students. Mr. Van Dusen who hails from Maine, is the author of If I Built a Car, The Circus Ship, the Mr. Magee books and others. He is also known as the illustrator of the Mercy Watson books. Lend a Hand to Highlands Elementary School
The OG PTA and Outreach Committee are lending a helping hand to Highlands Elementary School in Highlands, NJ. This very small town on the NJ coast was severely hit by Hurricane Sandy. Half of the students still are not able to go back to their homes. We will include HES in various Outreach and PTA activities throughout the school year, starting with two drives at the Winter Book Fair:
Highlands New Book Drive
Monday, December 17 - Wednesday, December 19
Look for the Giving Tree to buy for a specific student.
Gently Used Book, Toy and DVD Drive
Monday, December 17 - Wednesday, December 19
The Outreach Committee will have bins at the book fair to collect for a great local organization: Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
Benefit OGS While You Shop
You still have time to register your Target REDcard or Stop & Shop loyalty card to benefit OGS before you do that last minute holiday shopping. If you need assistance please email Victoria Robinson.

Gift Giving Policy
There are so many people who we would like to thank for helping to make OGS such a great school. Class parents will be coordinating gifts for classroom teachers, and our specials class parent, Anne Gustaffson, will be organizing gifts for specials teachers as well as other building staff. Thanks to all parents who have generously donated. Remember that sometimes the best thank-you is a personal note from you or your child, expressing your gratitude. The District gift policy states that there is a limit of $200 that can be gifted by any group during the school year. Cash is not permitted, nor are Visa/Amex/Mastercard gift cards (which are considered cash). Details regarding the District gift policy can be found on the GPS website. |
