First Friday & Holiday Open House, December 7 - Open House & Gorge Inspirations artists' reception. Volunteers needed 3-6 p.m. or 5:30-8:30 p.m. Greet guests, help with food and beverage, light retail sales AND enjoy the open house!
Greeter - Spend a few hours at our reception desk, greet guests, answer phones, help with light office tasks. Special need on Fridays. Training provided

| Call to Artists | We are accepting proposals for solo and small group art exhibits for 2013 and 2014.
Interested artists can email barbarap@visitahc.org for information on our exhibits and details for applying. Artists are also encouraged to attend one of our First Friday art openings to see how it all works.

Be among the first to enjoy the next chapter in the long-running story of the Ladd Carriage House - its new life as Raven and Rose Restaurant. Restaurateur Lisa Mygranthas gloriously outfitted the 1883 building, the only remaining building from the once-expansive William S. Ladd Estate, as a fine dining place, and is hosting a preview benefit for AHC members and friends.

Oregon Architects Series: Justus Krumbein

Justus Krumbein (1847-1907) is one of Oregon's most notable 19th century architects. A German immigrant, Krumbein arrived in Portland in 1871 where he embarked on a three-decade career that included designs for the second State Capitol along with some of Portland's most elaborate commercial and residential architecture. Holiday Reception Friday, December 7th 6:00 - 8:00 pm Catered reception hosted by Friends of Vista House and Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway Free and open to the public The "Gorge Inspirations" invitational art exhibit, and lecture series unveils the beauty and hidden elements of the Historic Columbia River Gorge and Highway, sharing the vision of local artists about this unique geographic feature, and exploring the history of "the king of roads."

New Guidebook for Window Repair and Weatherization in Historic Homes!
The Architectural Heritage Center has just completed a guidebook on window repair and weatherization for owners of vintage homes. This concise booklet identifies repair and maintenance solutions that maintain historic integrity while improving your home's energy efficiency. Included in the booklet is a bibliography and contact information for Portland area contractors who work on wood windows and those that offer other weatherization solutions, such as storm windows. This project was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Irvington Community Association!
