May - July

As spring transitions to summer, SEFLIN congratulates the teams from Boca Raton Public Library, Florida Atlantic University, Parkland Library, Lake Worth Public Library, North Miami Beach Public Library, and Mandel Library of West Palm Beach on their 2015 Building Capacity: User Experience projects.

We hope everyone can take time from a busy library schedule to enjoy graduation season, preparations for summer programs, getting ready to meet colleagues at local-state-national conferences, and of course vacations.

Conference Registration Open

On July 23, 2015, join us in learning and thinking about how libraries connect users with new technology. Keynote speaker, Stephen Grubb, will start the day with "The Fall of RadioShack and the Renaissance of the Public Library."

Breakout session speakers will pick up the theme in sessions such as "Digital Literacy Trends and Young Adults," "Minecraft Club 101," "Teaching Old Dogs New Tricks: Tips for Keeping up with Technology," and more. See the Speakers tab on the Conference page for a listing of session topics and a link to the full descriptions of breakout session topics.

TechSpace will feature short introductions to six technology applications and a poster session will have seven libraries sharing innovative services and programs. There will be door prizes during the drawing at lunchtime. And don't forget to pick up freebies from the Conference sponsors.

Registration: SEFLIN members, $55 and non-SEFLIN members, $135. Deadline is July 17.

How will the internet connectivity of objects impact libraries and library services? Beyond RFID, how will libraries use (or not) the embedded connectivity of things. A recent OCLC survey indicated that librarians should educate themselves, and watch what develops.
