 Greetings!

Volunteers are the life blood of Unity of Louisville. We have a small and dedicated staff yet all the programming and work of the ministry could never be accomplished without the dedication and commitment of out volunteers. Starting this week each month we will take time to highlight and honor individuals and ministries for their commitment in time, talent, and commitment to Unity of Louisville.

This month we would like to take the time to honor an individual who throughout the years has taken the lead on so many of our programs, ministries and events. This month we honor Alan Scherer. There is not enough space to describe all the Alan has done and continues to do in service to our blessed community but I will highlight just a few of the ministries and programs he has been involved in and in many cases taken on the leadership role. He has led the usher team for over 20 years and he took the lead and held the vision for the new welcome team. As part of the special events team he helped organize the many potlucks and community fundraisers that provide a time and place for members to connect and raise additional funds for the church. He organized the church picnic and led the AIDS walk for over a decade and he spent over six months organizing our 105th anniversary celebration. Alan was a member of the prayer chaplain ministry from its inception and continues to offer prayer and pastoral care to all who request it. In addition, Alan was part of the search committee that brought Rev Ray to Unity of Louisville. Thank you Alan for all you do but more importantly who you are. We are blessed to have you in our lives.

This week we begin a new series based on the book A Beautiful Way of Life by former Unity of Louisville senior minister Charles Lilly. Rev Ray will provide the lesson, Chelley Rouda will lead the meditation, and John Gage will provide the special music.

Senior Minister
