 Greetings!

I have found it is easy to follow the spiritual path when everything goes my way. I am able to say with confidence "I am the creator of my reality." The thoughts and beliefs I hold and the actions I take in alignment with my thoughts create my reality. It is in the easy times, the good times, I can become self-satisfied even bordering on arrogance. See how spiritual I am if everyone would only just listen and follow my example. I have known for years that when I get in that state of mind I am not holding to the truth as I walk the winding path of my spiritual journey. I am living in one of the many states of delusion that can throw me off the path. I just am not aware of it.

Of course something comes along, either  an event occurs or situations unfold in ways I had not imagined or I get some spiritual feedback to bring me back to earth. It usually feels like a bucket of cold water is thrown on me on a hot day. It is not going to hurt me but it is sure a shock to my system. It does not seem so easy then. It is in those moments that the real work begins again.

It is in times like these that it is most important I remember the principles and return to the disciplines and practices that have brought me this far on my journey. Oh, I forgot to write that when I am in that exalted state of self-satisfaction I completely forget all the steps, disciplines, and practices. It is in times like this I must remember my Divine nature; that conditions and circumstances do not limit or control my attitude; that the spiritual path is a long and winding road; that if it was easy I probably would have already done it; that the biggest part of the journey is staying awake. It is in the difficult times I must remember who I am and what are the guiding principles and values in my life. This is easier said then done but it can be done with perseverance and a willingness to do the work.

This week Gerry Boylan will be the guest speaker for a special Father's Day message. Dana Bryant will provide the special music and Rev Gwen Moser will lead the meditation.
