The title of Gerry's talk this week is "listening to the voice." I was reflecting on the title and remembered a story about seminary. Part of the application process is every applicant must take an extensive psychological test and meet with a psychologist to evaluate their mental preparedness and psychological readiness to be a minister. Seminary can be very stressful emotionally and they wanted to make sure the candidates were in a frame of mind that could handle the stress. 

      The first year they administered the test, or so the story is told, everyone was disqualified to move forward. When the administration looked a little closer the physiologists had disqualified everyone because they revealed they heard voices, typically an indicator of a mental disorder. They had to be told that everyone in Unity hears voices. It is part of the process of going within. made for some interesting discussions and a rethinking of how to best evaluate the test.

      In Unity we teach go within and listen for the voice of Spirit to guide you. This Sunday Gerry will expand on this understanding in what I am sure will be inspiring manner. Dana Bryant-Wilson will provide the special music and Jacque Saltsman will guide our meditation.
