Greetings!
In the preparations for our Coming Home to Unity celebration I have been listening to a number of people about what this means to them. I have always been fascinated by our stories of coming to Unity. It is through the stories I feel most connected to our movement and community. Joseph Campbell wrote how he believed we learn best through stories in part because they connect through our emotions and experiences and not the intellect.
I have been thinking it would be fun and inviting to put together a book of our stories of Coming Home to Unity. To that end I am requesting and encouraging everyone to write a short piece and send them to me. I will collect them, write and introduction, and include my own story and put the collection into a book form. I think this would be a perfect gift for first time visitors and assist us all in connecting to what it is about Unity that keeps us coming back. I look forward to reading your stories.
This Sunday we have a very special guest speaker Ginny First. Ginny has been a member of our community for years raising her three children in Unity. Ginny is well on her way to becoming a LUT and has been a guest speaker at Unity churches in MO and IN. Ginny is a massage therapist, energy worker, and yoga instructor. Her talk is title Living Your Highest Good. Janet Essenpreis will provide the special music and Gwen Moser our director of scared service will lead the meditation.
