This week I attended the Great Lakes Unity Regional Conference. I spent some of the free time in a time of quiet reflection. During my time of reflection I last weeks topic of just observing your thoughts was very much on my mind. In addition, I reflected on the previous weeks talk and music from Into the Woods and the idea that you are not alone.
I observed my thoughts and feeling of nervousness. I often forget about my situation, conditions and life, like a fish in water really is not aware of the water. Most of my colleagues had not seen me since last years conference. I was quite sick at that time and I observed my thoughts about how I might be seen or judged. Arriving at the conference over a two day period I was greeted with such love, concern, and genuine interest in how I was doing that at times I was overwhelmed. The voice in my head told me "we don't need outside validation." I observed this and told the voice to shut up and just soaked it in. I am not alone.
My friends, you each are part of the feelings of eternal gratitude and my truly getting that I am not alone. How often at church when people with open hearts of compassion asked about my condition and my state of mind. I truly feel your deep love and compassion. I watch my thoughts and the thoughts tell me I am blessed to be in a community bought local and regional where people care but see me as more then my condition. A learning moment for me that I often teach but need to embrace myself, that we are more then our condition. My inner voice, when I am not present, often tells me otherwise. I just get to listen and witness this voice but don't have to believe or buy into what it says.
Blessings to each of you. I will hold the high watch for you, give you strength when you falter, and know the truth for you when you forget because you continue to do that for me. We are so blessed.
