Greetings!
If your actions inspire ours to dream more, learn more, do more and become more you are a leader-John Quincy Adams
We are now in our sixth month as we continue our cultural shift in consciousness and action to a more empowering ministry model. An empowering model inspires us to step into leadership, especially in the areas we are passionate about. Today I wanted to share with you some information I received from Dr. Travis Bradberry the author of Emotional Intelligence and President of the consulting group TalentSmart.
There are many characteristics that we have often equated with leadership. Dr. Bradberry writes that most of these are wrong. Leadership is not about seniority or position. Leadership is not about titles or personal attributes, or even management.
Leadership, according to Bradberry, "is a process of social influence which maximizes the efforts of others toward the achievement of a greater good."
As I reflect on this definition what jumps out is it is about influencing others toward a greater good. When we step into a leadership role it is not about self-aggrandizement or recognition but about influencing others, and myself, toward a greater good. Leadership is a mindset with intention to affect an outcome.
As a community we embrace our values of inclusion, empowerment, and compassion and we take actions that supports each person on their own spiritual journey. When we connect to our passions and step into a position of leadership, and let me be clear we are all leaders, we begin to manifest good in our lives and in the lives of others. Our mission is we transform ourselves and others through love. When we say yes to the inner pulling of Spirit we make manifest what we say is important. I appreciate each person as they say yes and are willing to step into ever greater levels of leadership as we create together, as our wayshower Jesus taught, a new heaven on earth.
Join us this Sunday as we continue our exploration of the parables of Jesus. Rev Val will be discussing the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37). Ginny First will be leading our meditation and the special music will be provided by Robbie Bartlett.
