9 am Unity Prayer Service 11:00 am Sunday Celebration Service
Greetings!
This week we continue our series on the parables of Jesus. A parable is a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson. It is a story that on face of it seems to have a clear meaning but upon further inspection, like our own story, the meaning can change or deepen in ways that we did not expect.
All interpretation of a parable or story is personal. We see it through our own history and lens. Yet, so often preachers speak, often with authority, that they have the definitive message that the parable is trying to convey. This week in an effort to demonstrate that parables are personal and unique to each individual and that ministers/preacher are offering only a interpretation not the interpretation Rev Val and I will each do a short lesson on the parable of the day; new wine in an old wine skin. We will not discuss or exchange notes. I would invite everyone to read the parable Matthew 9: 16-17 and interpret for yourself and come Sunday and compare your ideas to ours.
Rev Val and I will be providing the lesson, Robin Nelson will lead the meditation and the Colette Delaney will provide the special music. Hope to see you Sunday.
Don't forget to pick up a backpack and school supplies for Engelhard Elementary. We have an opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child.
