9 am Unity Prayer Service
 11:00 am Sunday Celebration Service

Greetings!

In March 30 members of the congregation came together to help create and new vision and mission for Unity of Louisville. Drawing upon their initial work and the feedback of over 116 members of the congregations the Board of Trustees discussed and voted on a new vision and mission to guide us on our next steps on our spiritual evolution.

This week we begin a new series to go deeper in discussing, understanding, and claiming this new identity. Our vision is the guiding idea directing the organizations purpose. The vision is the why we exists. It is our state of being and the point on the horizon that points us in the direction. Our vision assist us in turning challenges and obstacles into opportunities. Without a good vision an organization may do many great things but not be clear on why and how to sustain the momentum.

Unity of Louisville is an inclusive, prosperous, compassionate community celebrating Oneness and infinite possibilities.

Our mission is what we do. It is the decision and choices we make, guided by the vision, that assists Unity of Louisville to continue to move forward. The mission reflects the values of our organization and is reflected in the programs and goals we collectively seek to embrace and manifest.

The mission of Unity of Louisville: We transform ourselves and the world through Love.

Our purpose as we seek to live out the mission and vision:
To live Unity principles and empower spiritual practices.

At the heart of our vision/mission are our core values that form the foundation of who we say we are. The core values guide us in our decision making and the choices we make.

Our core Values are:
Empowering, Inclusive, Spiritual Journey, Prosperous, and Compassionate.

Sunday please join us as Gerry Boylan kicks off our series. Gerry writes "Our Unity Core Values are not just some nice ideas, they are a =
reflection of our own inner being-our own inner truth. Empowering, =
Inclusive, Spiritual Journey, Prosperous, Compassionate are not limited = to Unity of Louisville, they are an expression of the yearnings and =
truth of all beings. By keeping ourselves continually aware of these =
gifts of Spirit, we grow, the world grows; we heal, the world heals." Our music director Phil Crowther accompanied by his lovely wife Lisa Wilbanks will be providing the special music and Ginny First will be leading our meditation.

We look forward to seeing you. Remember if you are unable to attend all our services are podcast on our website unityoflouisville.org.

Community Outreach

For the next two weeks everyone, member and non-member, will have an opportunity to vote on what three local community groups they would like to see us adopt. These three agencies will receive a monthly check as part of our tithing and I would invite us to explore how we can play an even bigger role in the activities of the chosen agencies. The 4-T's of prosperity teaches to tithe of time, talent, and treasure. AS we adopt these organizations let us do more then write a check let us discover how we can participate and play an even bigger role in the lives of the people they serve.

Below are the community agencies we are considering with a brief description. A ballot will be in the bulletin and at the welcome desk for the next three weeks or respond to this email and we will fill the ballot out for you. Please take the time and lovingly and prayerfully consider where you would like to see us as a community make a difference.

List of Community Agencies

Wayside Christian Ministry-Helping Louisville's homeless population, not with a hand-out, but with a hand up... Continuing to serve as one of Louisville's main safety nets, Wayside Christian Mission tackles the root causes of homelessness using a proven holistic approach.

Habitat for Humanity-When people think of Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville, they think about building houses. And they should, since we began in 1985 we have built or renovated over 400 homes in Metro Louisville and Oldham County. But, while building is what we do, the reason we do it is to change lives. We build homes because they are essential building blocks for families and communities; especially when coupled with strong relationships and healthy neighborhoods.

Fuller Center, Louisville, KY - Louisville is The Fuller Center's leader in the Save a House/Make a Home initiative, in which banks and investors can relieve themselves of vacant properties they consider "toxic assets" by donating them to us. We then restore the homes to good condition and fill them with families once again, a boost to the families, community and the housing industry itself.

Dare to Care-In addition to providing food to hundreds of emergency kitchens, shelters and food pantries, Dare to Care operates several programs targeting the most vulnerable in our community. Dare to Care relies on over 3,000 caring volunteers to help fulfill our mission.  Simply put, our work would not be possible without the generosity of these individuals and groups.

The Resilient Families Project provides educational experiences to strengthen families and promote resilience and wellness for children and parents experiencing homelessness. This project and its programs serve the residents of Wayside Christian Mission's Hotel Louisville and Wayside Christian Mission's Emergency Homeless Shelter. Our mission is to promote a strong sense of family (family matters!) and community caring (Compassionate Louisville!) It is our ultimate goal to improve school readiness (and readiness for the world) in these children and their families.

Englehart Elementary School-Engelhard continues to be a labor of love, combining home, school, and community to provide the best possible learning experience for our young people. Through this cooperative venture, our students will learn to make wise decisions regarding their future; acquire the confidence, courage, and tenacity necessary to find solutions to difficult problems; and remain acutely aware of the rights and needs of their community.

Peace Education- The Peace Education Program strengthens communities and schools by training youth and adults to build and sustain positive relationships. We do this by providing learning experiences to reduce violence, enhance personal integrity, and foster mutual respect. We teach conflict resolution, peer mediation, and prejudice reduction.

CASA-Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the River Region supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children so that they can thrive in safe, permanent homes. CASA recruits and trains community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children.

Hosparus-Hosparus provides hospice care and so much more.

Hosparus is for patients who choose to have the best quality of life possible till the end of life. We provide hospice care wherever our patients call home. Each patient and family receives care and counseling from a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers. Our teams offer the type of care, comfort and counseling they would want for their own families.

The Society for the Prevention of Aggressiveness and Violence Among Adolescents SPAVA-To produce a nonviolent society by being mentors and role models for our youth To produce a nonviolent society by being mentors and role models for our youth. Help our youth: To be successful through nonviolent methods, in asset building such as respect, honor and integrity, to learn to channel anger and use aggressiveness in a productive manner, to become mentors for their brothers and sisters, and to learn tolerance and acceptance despite differences.
