9 am Healing & Prayer Service
 11:00 am Sunday Celebration Service

Greetings!

The third Sunday of Advent is joy. This has always been one of my favorite topics to talk about. Joy is a gift from God. Our natural state is one of joy.  When we are not in a state of joy we must ask ourselves how I have missed perceived the world and my place in it. Not being in a state of joy means we need to make a different choice about conditions or events that are causing us pain. This is easy to say not always easy to accomplish. But as A Course in Miracles says "how can you find joy in a joyless place except by realizing you are not there. We can choose to see things differently.

I remember doing training a number of years ago called Mastery. Part of the training was an extended time of meditation as we discover what our own unique guiding principles to live by are. I was early in recovery and had a number of trust issues, both with myself and others. In the meditation I came up with the principles of Peace, Love, and Trust. I clearly remember hearing an inner voice that told me no Trust was not one of my principles it was joy. I distinctly remember arguing with the voice (I'll call the voice God). The voice was very patient but insistent that my principle was Joy and Trust. Finally, I gave in and upon coming out of the meditation Trust was not a principle, for me, but a choice. Joy was a state of mind and a way of being that was easy for me to recognize. If I was not in joy I need to think and act in a different way. Joy is who I am.

Please plan to join us Sunday. Our Sunday lesson will be given by Rev Val, I will be doing the meditation and the special music will be performed by Colette Delaney
