SUNDAY WORSHIP
11:00 am
February Sermon Series:
"What is Required?"
Life is full of requirements, isn't it? And everyone seems to have an opinion of what is required to please God, too. Is it perfect church attendance? Is it giving a full 10% of our gross income, with extra Jesus Points for anything above and beyond? Or is it something else? Why not spend some time with us in February for one possible answer to this question, as Pastor Danny reflects on the question, "What is Required?"

| A REFLECTION FROM PASTOR DANNY |
| Can You Feel the Love? Ah, February! It's the month of the year when candy companies like Russell-Stover, card companies like Hallmark, as well as jewelry merchants and restaurant owners of all types salivate over the possibilities for squeezing just a few more bucks from us. Re-reading that last line, I have to admit it doesn't quite have the romantic feel that's supposed to come with Valentine's Day, does it? So, lest you think I am the Valentine Grinch, just note I have purchased a variety of singing bears, candy, flowers, and cards for Richard throughout our 17 ½ year relationship. After a while, though, we decided neither of us need the candy, we don't know how to compost the flowers, and the singing bears-while cute-can really get on your nerves in short order. That pretty much leaves us with a nice card and dinner-which works for us. |

END MARRIAGE DISCRIMINATION IN VIRGINIA
February 14, 2014, at 1:00 pm
Fairfax County Courthouse
4110 Chain Bridge Road Fairfax, Virginia 22030
The State of Virginia is arguing in court that not being able to get married doesn't hurt lesbian and gay people and that lesbian and gay people don't want to get married anyway. So there is no reason to change the state ban on same sex marriage. If we want marriage equality in Virginia, then it's time to step up and make it happen.
What can you do? Join MCC NOVA and our Interfaith Partners as we give witness to Sarah Fershee and Ginny Miles as they apply for a marriage license at the Fairfax County Courthouse.
Can't make it to the courthouse on Valentine's Day or want to do more? Meet after service at MCC NOVA on Sunday, February
9 for a Pizza Party as we prepare signs and banners to bring to our Witness for LOVE! at the courthouse.

Inclement Weather Procedure & Policy
To check whether or not a scheduled church event or activity is canceled due to inclement weather, please call the church office at 703-691-0930. In the case of a cancellation, a message will be placed on the church answering machine 2 hours prior to a scheduled event. If the message does not include a cancellation notice, activities will be held as scheduled. The church will also attempt to send cancellation notices via email. The Inclement Weather Policy of the church is found below: It is the policy of MCC NOVA during inclement weather, all Board members will pro-actively call the Pastor or designee and state their opinion about whether or not to cancel a scheduled church activity. That call should be made at least three (3) hours prior to services or the event. Once a majority of the Board members have expressed their opinions, the Pastor or designee will update the message on the church answering machine. When feasible, proactive telephoning or electronic contact will be attempted. Refer to the "Emergency Contact" policy for additional information. The Moderator or Vice Moderator of the Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing this policy.
