"Deep ruby. Spice- and mineral-accented aromas of cherry, redcurrant and fresh flowers. Fresh and lively on the palate, offering bitter cherry and spicecake flavors complicated by smoky mineral and herbal nuances. In a rather elegant style, finishing with soft tannins and very good grip and length."

"I consistently love the Gigondas from this estate, and their 2012 Gigondas is outstanding. A blend of 65% Grenache and 35% Syrah that's aged 40% in tank and 60% in foudre, it gives up classic Gigondas spice and peppery herbs to go with plenty of sweet berry fruit, underbrush and earth. Medium-bodied, juicy and pure, with surprising elegance, it will have 10-12 years of longevity"

About Domaine la Bouïssiere

Domaine la Bouïssiere is run by two brothers, Thierry and Gilles Faravel, who specialize in the production of unique, high-altitude Gigondas and Vacqueyras wines. The family vineyards sit on the slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail, the dramatic granite peaks that are the dominant landmark of the Southern Rhone. At more than 1,000 feet above sea level, their vines enjoy a slower growing season. As a result their wines continually show elegance and vibrancy, with bright fresh fruit and outstanding character and balance.

The Faravel family practice organic farming and a non-intrusive and traditional approach to winemaking.  Vinification is always as natural as possible, vintage conditions dictating how the brothers handle each varietal through fermentation and aging. Wines are seldom fined or filtered.

Thierry and Gilles Faravel are regarded as leading artisan winemakers in Gigondas AOC. Their winemaking style is decidedly traditional - that is, they are "wines of place". In Gigondas and Vacqueyras this means wines that are full of herbal, earthy aromas and flavours - 'the old fashioned' characteristics that are suddenly more prized than ever.
