The Max Ferdinand Richter estate has been in the Richter family for over 300 years. The original Baroque Family house from 1774 still stands today! Situated in the heart of the Mosel the estate has holdings of 40 acres including some of the region's very best sites: Graacher Himmelreich, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Brauneberger Juffer and Richter's monopole Veldenzer Eilsenberg.

From the Middle Ages, the Roman Catholic Church was by far the largest vineyard owner in Mosel. To this day, vineyard names there reflect that history. Like Burgundy the clergy came to intimately understand the land and clearly demarcated the differences between vineyards. The Himmelreich 'Kingdom of Heaven' vineyard is one of the most significant and sought after vineyards in the Mosel. The steep exposed slopes contain large deposits of blue slate which allows the grapes to ripen while maintaining beautiful freshness and minerality.  

At Max Ferdinand Richter all grapes are handpicked and the wine is fermented and matured in neutral oak casks.  They produce spectacularly focused and pure Rieslings. The value found here is exceptional.
