 "A totally striking wine, the 2012 Pinot Noir La Neblina is laced with bright raspberry, cranberry, rose petals mint and cinnamon notes. The flavors are bright, focused and beautifully delineated throughout. Sweet floral and spice notes add lift on the finish. In this vintage, the Neblina was done with 15% whole clusters. This bright, aromatically expressive Pinot is a great choice for drinking over the next few years. There is a lot to like here. The Neblina is Radio-Coteau's largest production Pinot, should be relatively easy to find. The 2012 is a blend of several sites, including Hallberg and deselected barrels of the vineyard-designates."

 "(made with 15% whole clusters and 30% new oak):  Brilliant ruby.  Lively redcurrant and cherry scents are complemented by suggestions of Asian spices and fresh rose.  Highly fragrant in the mouth, offering juicy, focused red fruit flavors that put on weight with aeration.  Becomes smokier with air and finishes on a spicy note, with fine-grained tannins lending shape."

 "(15% whole clusters and 50% new oak):  Ruby-red.  A complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes cherry liqueur, woodsmoke and potpourri, with suave vanilla and mocha qualities adding depth.  Juicy, sharply focused cherry and black raspberry flavors show wonderful intensity and become spicier with air.  Finishes with intense minerality and outstanding length, leaving bitter cherry and floral pastille notes behind."

 "The just-bottled 2012 Syrah Las Colinas races across the palate with layers of expressive dark red fruit. Still quite primary, the 2012 isn't showing much in the way of aromatics at this point. Instead, the appeal - and there is a lot of it - is mostly textural. There is a pulsating energy to the 2012 that makes it absolutely irresistible. The sweet, silky tannins suggest the 2012 will drink beautifully right out of the gate. In 2012, Las Colinas is a blend of fruit from several sources; 54% Cherry Camp, 27% Dusty Lane and 16% Timbervine."

 "(made from fruit grown in the Cherry Camp, Dusty Lane and Timbervine vineyards):  Bright violet color.  Musky aromas of blackberry and blueberry compote, olive tapenade, smoky minerals and licorice, with a bright mineral overtone.  Dense, tactile and sweet on the palate, showing excellent lift to its dark fruit and floral pastille flavors.  Displays very good clarity on the finish, which is framed by dusty, slow-building tannins."

About Radio-Coteau

Born and raised in New York State, Eric Sussman developed a passion for wine-growing while studying agriculture at Cornell University. Inspired by wine's unique connection with its place of origin Eric set out to work with and learn from world-class producers at home and abroad. He spent several years working in the vineyards and cellars of small artisan producers in Washington State, where he managed vineyards through the organic certification process. Making wine from organic fruit drove home the relationship between vineyard practices and wine quality.

Sussman moved to France in the mid 90's where he spent time working at the respected estates of Domaine Comte Armand and Domaine Jacques Prieur in Burgundy. Returning to the United States in 1997, Eric headed for northern California and collaborated on the wines at Bonny Doon, followed by a four year stint as associate winemaker at Dehlinger in Sonoma.

In 2002 Eric established Radio-Coteau. He has since gained great acclaim for his natural terroir driven wines. Fruit from Biodynamically farmed vineyards is fermented with a percentage of whole clusters, always with native yeasts. The resulting wines are bottled without fining or filtration. This is an outstanding producer, producing some of the purest examples of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah in California today.
