"Sweet Spot Outstanding"
"This is more aromatically interesting with its ripe but airy notes of green tea, spice, wet stone, green apple and acacia blossom scents. There is excellent concentration to the dry extract-rich medium-bodied flavors that possess fine delineation on the notably dry, balanced and highly persistent finish. This is impressive."

"Here the nose is compositionally quite similar to that of the Caillerets except that it's cooler and more restrained. There is solid concentration to the appealingly textured, intense and mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess fine depth, balance and persistence. This should be lovely in time."

Bernard Mollard
THE STORY

The extended Morey family is one of the most well-known in the Côte de Beaune and great wine courses through its veins. Bernard Mollard, Marc Morey's son in-law, is no exception. A man with a big personality, a twinkle in his eye and clearly no shortage of talent, he has once again produced a lovely range of generous, full and flavoursome wines.

The old cellar of Domaine Marc Morey lies under a magnificent home, which was a former coaching inn and the family home for 100 years. While Marc Morey has been producing top-quality wines there for many years and  has always been amongst the top grower-winemakers in the village, Bernard Mollard's wines have seen a marked increase in quality and renown since the mid-nineties.

The Morey family is one of those rare Burgundian families that work together and share vineyards and winemaking efforts. The winemaking is traditional, using wild yeasts. The oak treatment is about 25% new with lees aging and battonage. The 2011s from Domaine Marc Morey are beautifully aromatic, with loads of dry extract and minerality.  They are capable of very considerable age.
