"Opaque ruby. Deeply pitched aromas of cherry and cassis, with licorice and Indian spice accents. Showing pretty serious concentration for the vintage, with bitter cherry and dark berry flavors and an enlivening spiciness. Finishes focused and long, with strong thrust and lingering spiciness."

17/20 - Jancis Robinson
"Dark crimson. Herby nose with some black pepper and lots of flattering ripe fruit on the palate. Tannins well managed underneath. This would make a great introduction to Gigondas. Very comfortable and confident. Everything in the right place."

Domaine la Bouïssiere is run by two brothers, Thierry and Gilles Faravel, who specialize in the production of unique, high-altitude Gigondas and Vacqueyras wines. The family vineyards sit on the slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail, the dramatic granite peaks that are the dominant landmark of the Southern Rhone. At more than 1,000 feet above sea level, their vines enjoy a slower growing season. As a result their wines continually show elegance and vibrancy, with bright fresh fruit and outstanding character and balance.
The Faravel family practice organic farming and a non-intrusive and traditional approach to winemaking. Vinification is always as natural as possible, vintage conditions dictating how the brothers handle each varietal through fermentation and aging. Wines are seldom fined or filtered.
Thierry and Gilles Faravel are regarded as leading artisan winemakers in Gigondas AOC. Their winemaking style is decidedly traditional - that is, they are "wines of place". In Gigondas and Vacqueyras this means wines that are full of herbal, earthy aromas and flavours - 'the old fashioned' characteristics that are suddenly more prized than ever.
