"Sette Ponti has made serious wines for a while now, but over the last few years, proprietor Antonio Moretti and longtime consulting oenologist Carlo Ferrini have taken things to another level."

93 POINTS  - Antonio Galloni Vinous Media

"The 2010 Crognolo, a Sangiovese/Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend, jumps from the glass with juicy dark cherries, savory herbs, licorice and new leather. The Crognolo is quite a bit more extroverted than the Poggio al Lupo. At the same time, the Crognolo retains plenty of focus and energy. Expressive floral and balsamic-infused notes add lift on the close."

 August 2013

92 POINTS - James Suckling
"A wine with currant, spices and hazelnut character. Full body, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish. Chewy and rich. Consistently outstanding. Better in 2014."

Dr. Antonio Moretti has made a major impact on the Italian wine scene with his projects Tenuta Sette Ponti near Arezzo, Poderi Orma in Bolgheri, and Feudo Maccari in Sicily, which have all received recognition for producing outstanding terrior driven wines.

The estate of Tenuta Sette Ponti lies in the heart of the Chianti zone, fifteen miles northwest of the city of Arezzo. The southerly-exposed vineyards occupy a total of 150 acres at an altitude of 200 to 300 metres on a variety of soils which include limestone, clay, sand and the rocky galestro of Chianti. The oldest vines lie on a five-acre plot called the Vigna dell' Impero planted in 1935. This hand-terraced vineyard, planted primarily to Sangiovese, is adjacent to an 87-acre plot, also of principally Sangiovese vines, planted in the early1960s. Newer plantings, which total 68 acres and date from 1997, 1999 and 2000, are apportioned 35 acres to Sangiovese, eighteen acres to Merlot, thirteen acres to Cabernet Sauvignon and five acres to experimental varieties.

Consistently excellent the Crognolo is the # 1 selling Tuscan red in British Columbia in the over $30 price category.  The Limited Time Offer this month is an excellent opportunity to stock up on this outstanding value!
