90 Points - Wine Advocate

"Richter's 2004 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese smells of ripe peach and nectarine, comes onto the palate with richness but also with considerable brightness and cut as well as nutty, wet stone depth. Fascinating notes of lees and cask add complexity. The finish is decisively slate-y, nutty, and full of luscious ripe fruit. This excellent value Spatlese should keep well for two decades."

"This fragrant white shows light, delicate, refined flavors of peach and apple, with hints of pear and tangerine. Buttery and spicy on the crisp finish."

Not reviewed by the wine press - the note below is from an in house tasting of the wine this past spring:

Petrol and lime scented nose leads to abundant juicy fruit, revealing layers of apple, honey and juniper . Creamy and richly textured but finishes very mineral. Loads of life ahead.

The Story

The WineryThe Max Ferdinand Richter estate has been in the Richter family for over 300 years. The original Baroque Family house (pictured right) from 1774 still stands today! Situated in the heart of the Mosel the estate has holdings of 40 acres including some of the region's very best sites: Graacher Himmelreich, Wehlener Sonnenuhr and Brauneberger Juffer.

All grapes are handpicked and the wine is fermented and matured in neutral oak casks.  The wines have been stored in Richter's impeccable cellars until shipping.

These are spectacularly focused and pure Rieslings that will delight consumers. The value found here is exceptional.
