95 POINTS - James Suckling
"
Wow. Beautiful nose of crushed berries and coffee with hints of spices. Full body, with intense red chili and dark fruits that follow through to a long, long finish. Very beautiful. Better in 2014.

93 POINTS - Wine Advocate
"The 2009 Orma is gorgeous. Espresso, mocha, sweet red cherries, grilled herbs and plums wrap around the palate in this sensual wine from the Tuscan coast. The 2009 doesn't quite have the exuberance or sexiness of 2007 or 2008, but it comes very close. Firm tannins frame a vibrant, energetic finish layered with graphite, smoke and mocha. This is a very beautiful wine from Antonio Moretti and long-time consulting oenologist Carlo Ferrini. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. "

The Story
Dr. Antonio Moretti has made a major impact on the Italian wine scene with his projects Tenuta Sette Ponti near Arezzo, Poggio al Lupo in Maremma, and Feudo Maccari in Sicily, which have all received great recognition for producing outstanding terrior driven wines. His newest addition is a prized 5.5 hectare vineyard in the heart of Bolgheri. Podere Orma continues Dr. Moretti's ambition to make compelling, distinctive wines that express the uniqueness of Italy's finest terroirs.
Podere Orma is located within the district of Castagneto Carducci in Bolgheri, where the illustrious neighbours include both Sassicaia and Ornellaia. Needless to say,the region comprises some of the most legendary terroir in all of Italy. Since its inception in 2005 Orma (which translates to "mark" or "footprint") has always received the kind of stellar reviews its privileged position demands; when the prices of the great neighbouring estates are considered, Podere Orma emerges as a killer value.
A blend of Bordeaux varietals (40% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) the wine was aged 14 months in French barriques, 60% of which are new, and 40% second use. The result is an elegant blend fully expressing the famous Bolgheri terroir, combining savoury herbal aromas, rich ripe, fruit, and an astonishing sumptuousness of texture.
