Garnacha Vines in Navarra, Spain
|
Artadi is a visionary wine company founded in 1985 with the belief that "the value of great wines is closely related to the soil and the people". The company is dedicated to preserving the distinct viticultural traditions of three classic regions of Spain: Rioja Alavesa, Navarra, and Alicante.
Artadi's manifesto declares "Respect for nature has been a constant factor since our beginnings. Today the use of traditional agricultural methods, the absence of fertilizers and synthetic chemical substances and the use of principles of organic growing combine to provide a background of sustainable agriculture." Renowned winemaker Juan Carlos Lopez de la Calle maintains the very highest standards in all aspects of winegrowing.
Dry-farmed garnacha bush vines are the heart and soul of winegrowing in Navarra. Normally they produce big, powerful , long-lived red wines, so a 100% garnacha rosado is a delightful surprise. Artazuri Rosado is a lovely expression of garnacha's special qualities, namely fresh berry fruit and smooth texture. It is astonishing that Navarra's harsh growing conditions (it's very rocky and always too hot or too cold) could produce wine of such delicacy and freshness, but somehow they do.
Artazuri Rosado is a spectacularly pretty colour. It has the flavour of the freshest, juiciest raspberries you've ever had. Wine is rarely truly refreshing, but this one is, which is to say it is everything you could possibly want a rose to be.
Delicious any time, and as adaptable as wine can be, but at its best outside and ice-cold.
