The Present Value of Future Time
October, 2014

Did you ever have one of those days, you know, a day when nothing goes according to plan and you feel like you haven't accomplished anything except to survive it? Maybe we should consider that an achievement. In the end, you can only control the things you have control of, but the day will end and the sun will rise again tomorrow.

I'm in a business where I don't get paid for showing up, I get paid for results. Most of us are in the same boat. For us, time is both an asset and a liability. We get 24 hours to accomplish what we need to before the clock runs out. The frustration we feel on one of those days I mentioned above is tied to that underlying reality. We wind up frustrated with the things we can't control, and sometimes it's our own behavior.

One thing we can do is to eliminate that frustration. If, before the day begins, you have a clear idea of what you need to accomplish it will allow you to put those situations into perspective and weigh the alternatives. When it comes to your time, it will never have as much value as it does this moment. You can't buy more time, you can only use what you have effectively. Control what you can and let go of the rest.

Managing time,

Insurance Tip: For those 65 or older, October 1 is the start of AEP and the first day we will all know what Medicare plans will be offered for 2015. From October 15 through December 7 seniors on a Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug Plan are able to change to a different plan and that new plan will be effective January 1. Plans change from year to year as do their needs. I advise all seniors to review their coverage to see if there might be a better option available. If you know someone who needs expert help with that research have them give me a call at 847-502-2663. It's an investment in their health and peace of mind.
