Being out of town for an extended period while training new advisors gives me the opportunity to work out more often than I typically do at home. I'm always surprised at how quickly my body responds. When I mentioned this to my chiropractor, she responded that it's simply muscle memory. You already trained those muscles, she said, they're responding to a familiar set of circumstances. It's like riding a bike, you never forget.
I've noticed that you do, however, get rusty - like when I haven't been doing certain things for a few months. It comes back to me but it takes some time. It might be a computer program or making a recipe or analyzing a financial statement. Whatever the challenge, if I slow down it gives my brain time to reconnect the dots and soon I'm back at full speed again. You've probably had a similar experience. If you slow down the process you'll improve the results. Try it the next time you face a similar situation.
