We have just completed our first Tap Teacher Training - Certificate Program and are now accepting applicants for the 2015-2016 Training.

 

A comprehensive training program in teaching rhythm tap to children, teens, and adults

 

Essential lessons based in the classic tap repertory of the Copasetic Canon

A choreo-lab for advanced and intermediate level tap dancers to explore tap composition, improvisation, and jazz music fundamentals. Students will develop their own tap performance works.

Tap Treasures

 

ATDF is preparing for its First Annual Tap Treasures Event, a Tap Dance Hunt & Tour.

 

During the week of May 17-24th, 2015, get ready to follow your tap dance treasure maps leading you throughout New York City's most treasured and historic tap dance locations. We've picked the best tap dance points of interest in NYC, and we want you to discover them, take a photo at them, and answer special clues regarding each place .

 

A winner, which is the person/group who finishes their Tap Treasure Hunt and Tour the quickest, will be announced at a special outdoor event and performance produced by the ATDF in celebration of National Tap Dance Day. The winner will take home a $500 ATDF Gift Certificate, which can be used for merchandise, classes, Tap City, etc.

Tap City Youth Ensemble Audition

 

Calling all advanced tap dancers age 12-19

 

Are you passionate about tap dance?  

Consider auditioning for the Tap City Youth Ensemble! 

 

  • learn choreography & technique from leading tap artists in the field today
  • explore tap history and learn classic dances from the masters
  • develop improvisation skills & a deeper understanding of music
  • dance & perform with live music
  • perform in NYC venues, Tri-State area venues, and beyond

We are taking video audition submissions now for the 2015-16 seasons. 

 

Dancers need to be available on Sundays (specific schedule TBA)

from mid-September 2015 through mid-June 2016.

Mr. Chestnut's" Dance Therapy" is a tribute to his late niece
"Nazerah Bugg". This Dance Piece that Explores The Realities of Youth Violence in
America ,from a Tap Dance Perspective. Dance Therapy includes a Brilliant Ensemble of The area's Brightest
young Dancers.

Mr. Williams rhythm is a lucid dream loosely based on Cartier's
journey through Hoofing from his Childhood to present day.
