Tap Teacher Training Program

 

The American Tap Dance Foundation is accepting students into our newly developed Tap Teacher Training Program, based in the Copasetic Canon, culminating in a Level 1 Certificate. This program is for tap dance teachers and advanced dancers who wish to become teachers. The Training provides a comprehensive approach to teaching rhythm tap technique, repertory, and performance skills.

 

Session one meets July 12-19, 2015 at the American Tap Dance Center, NYC.

Absolute Beginner Workshop

Designed especially to give new students a chance to learn the basic steps and vocabulary of tap dance, this workshop is a great way to learn the FUNdamental skills needed to join our BEGINNER tap class, or "brush up on the basics." No experience necessary, loaner shoes are available.

A choreo-lab for advanced and intermediate level tap dancers to explore tap composition, improvisation, and jazz music fundamentals. Students will develop their own tap performance works.

Tap Treasures

 

ATDF is preparing for its First Annual Tap Treasures Event, a Tap Dance Hunt & Tour.

 

During the week of May 17-24th, 2015, get ready to follow your tap dance treasure maps leading you throughout New York City's most treasured and historic tap dance locations. We've picked the best tap dance points of interest in NYC, and we want you to discover them, take a photo at them, and answer special clues regarding each place .

 

A winner, which is the person/group who finishes their Tap Treasure Hunt and Tour the quickest, will be announced at a special outdoor event and performance produced by the ATDF in celebration of National Tap Dance Day. Location TBA. The winner will take home a $500 ATDF Gift Certificate, which can be used for merchandise, classes, Tap City, etc.

151 RED presents their new tap dance spectacular, Swingin' Time. This 'class act' tap dance trio combines talent, youth, experience, and vision to bring you a fresh and modern perspective on classic jazz tap. Relive the Hollywood Era of romance and style as Derick K. Grant, RONxII, and Emma Wylie combine innovative choreography with some of the most familiar and iconic jazz tunes of the day. On Tap: From Broadway to the Silver Screen
