Rockin' in Rhythm


February 14 - 15, 2015


The Rockin' in Rhythm Teen Tap Intensive brings together dynamic and diverse youth ensembles from across the country to perform their best works on a New York City stage, and then hit & swing on our American Tap Dance Center floors to learn new rhythms and moves with their contemporaries in master classes. Our goal is to unite, share and inspire through a weekend of rockin' rhythms & music for everyone.

ATDF youth programs, for children and teens, teach students about America's own indigenous art form - Tap. Our distinguished faculty shares their knowledge of the artistry and history of tap with each student in a fun, safe and supportive environment.

Tap Technique and Choreography
Master Classes in Body Percussion
Tap History & Film
Field Trip to Children's Museum Manhattan
Presentation for parents on last day

Tap dance production number (non-union) with 100+ Tap Dancers directed and staged by ATDF Artistic Director Tony Waag.


Seeking Tap Dancers: ages 10-Adult (Adv Beg-Adv Level), any ethnicity, with strong RHYTHM TAP experience (required), PLUS a strong knowledge of the Shim Sham Shimmy. Be prepared to have a lot of fun and to represent the Tap Dance Community! No Pay!


Mandatory final group rehearsals: Saturday, October 4th (6-9pm) and Sunday, October 5th (6-9pm)

Where: Classes will be held at Michele's Dance Studio, 615 S. Livingston Ave in Livingston, New Jersey

Description: NJ's sole dance event featuring world class faculty and tap extravaganza. Faculty includes Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Jason Samuels, Jason Janas, Maurice Chestnut, Hillary-Marie, Deborah Mitchell, Karen Callaway Williams and more!
