Promotion Title Prosecco, a sparkling wine from Italy, is usually produced using the Charmat method, in which the secondary fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, making the wine less expensive to produce. Below are two recommendations from Prosecco, from our wine manager.
Nino Franco Rustico. This wine earns 90-point scores from two critics, who call it clean and seductive. They note the peach flavors, which make it perfect for using in a Bellini cocktail, and mark it as an exceptional example of Prosecco.
Mionetto Prosecco Brut, is light, fruity, and gently fizzy. Accolades have come from The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Among consumers, even online reviewers who generally enjoy sweeter wines don't find this crisp sparkler too dry. |
Promotion Title Want to ring in the New Year with a Spanish twist? Pour yourself a glass of Cava, a crisp Spanish wine that delivers value as well as sparkle!
Cava is a Spanish word that means 'caves' or 'cellar'. Caves were used in the early days of Cava production for the preservation or aging of wine and Catalan winemakers officially adopted the term 'Cava' in 1970 to distinguish their product from French champagne. Only wines produced in the traditional champagne method may be labelled cavas.
Cava, not as dry as Champagne nor as fruity as Prosecco, has its own distinctive flavor. While taste will vary among producers, Cava often has notes of lemon, green apples, nuts, and brioche derived from a blending of grapes. Many high quality cavas are made from the wines of a single year. Vintage cavas that are just a few years old can have great depth of flavor.

When thinking of which wines to celebrate with, we often tend to think a just sparkling white wines. These are delicious and festive, but sparkling Rosé wines which incorporate some of the color from the grapes' skins that can range from summery copper to a salmon pink, as well as layers of red berried fruit, can expand your enjoyable options!
Pictured here; May we recommend NV Domaine Carneros by Taittinger Cuvee de la Pompadour Brut Rose "Pale copper in color. Smooth, with a rich, creamy texture underlying the rose petal, black cherry and floral notes that turn delicate with a hint of citrus." -tasting notes from Wine SpectatorRemember on New Year's Eve and every day in the new year always; Drink Responsibly. Wishing everyone a safe and Happy New Year's Eve celebration. |
