Spring Equinox Ritual & Celebration

"The seasons and all their changes are in me."
--Henry David Thoreau.
The Wheel of the Year spins and we come together to honor the turning of the seasons and the Earth's never-ending cycles of life. We open our arms to welcome new beginnings, a year filled with wondrous possibilities. We start the year with a celebration of spring and plant our consciousness with seeds of hope, dreams, and New Directions for 2013.
As we emerge from a year of change and the last days of Winter, we celebrate the Resurrection of the Earth and the power to, once again, renew ourselves with new directions, new dreams, new goals.

Temple of the Goddess Spring Equinox Celebration & Ritual
Spring Equinox is the time of bursting forth, of realizing the potentials of Winter Solstice and Candlemas. On the equinoxes light and dark are equal in a moment's balance. The Spring Equinox is the time of conception, when the rising light is ascending and overcomes darkness.

The theme for our 2013 ritual productions is New Directions. Following our 2012 Year of Change, NEW DIRECTIONS inevitably follow. With each Turn of the Wheel, most especially in Spring, we embrace the possibility of New Directions.
As Pagans, our teachings are found in nature, the seasons, cycles, and the cosmos . . . all of which are in a constant state of flux. We have no Bible, Torah, or Bhagavad Gita . . . but in nature we find the reflection/lessons for how to grow, live consciously, and create the life we deserve. To that end we don't need to emphasize the need, or desire, for change and the inevitable new beginnings, new directions that follow. For Pagans that's a given. We understand the clarion call of life for continual resurrection and transformation. What we are bringing to our ritual theatre celebrations in 2013 are mythic lessons about standing at the crossroads of new directions, and discerning through wise, contemplative choices which direction . . . which new path to take. This year we will explore the tools we will need to move forward, with courage, in new directions, down paths we have not yet trod . . . consciously choosing the new directions we want to go in 2013.
New Directions is such a fertile subject and we are excited to be opening ourselves, artistically and spiritually, to this mythic theme and the possibilities within it.
Vasilisa the Brave. This year our mythic guide is Vasilisa The Brave who ushers us through our seasonal rituals and myths in 2013. Vasilisa The Brave, from the Slavic mythic tradition, is a young heroine who journeys in search of wisdom, knowledge, and a quest for truth and assistance. Before beginning her journey, Vasilisa The Brave is given a doll from her mother that represents her intuition. It is the intuition that we each carry that will guide us on our quest throughout the year. As Vasilisa begins her journey, she is given a special doll who offers wisdom to Vasilisa and encourages her to trust her own intuition, her inner wisdom. She is told to seek the Wise Woman, the Shaman in the woods whose myths and stories will guide her in the search for New Directions. Like Vasalisa we return every season to hear the stories. We call on the Wise Shaman for support in following our own unique path and process, for she is a guide, a teacher, a teller of tales. The Wise Woman's first myth at Spring Equinox will recount the age-old story of the Egyptian Goddess Isis, Her search for Her husband and beloved, Osiris. It is a story of resurrection, regeneration, and new possibilities. When Isis re-members Osiris and resurrects him, Horus the Sun God is born.

Our evening of ritual theatre opens with a song and meditation on New Beginnings and the resurrection we must each go through annually as new life is regenerated with the coming of Spring. In song, dance, and spoken word, we explore the power of myth and remembering. At this time we celebrate the power of the Earth to resurrect herself each spring as we too resurrect the seeds of our goals and dreams which have been stored for safe-keeping during the dark of winter. In the modern retelling of this ageless story Isis braves new directions in search of Her Beloved Osiris. With compassion Isis gathers the pieces of Osiris and lovingly re-members the truth of him. She resurrects Osiris into a world of new possibilities. Just as the Earth is resurrected each spring and gives birth to new life across the land, Isis and Osiris give birth to their son, Horus. Horus, the Falcon-headed deity in ancient Egypt personified the rising sun as a symbol of resurrection or eternal life.
Journey with us as we follow Vasilisa The Brave in her mythic quest for bold New Directions, steeped in the teaching of ancient and wise stories. As we witness these powerful myths and stories we remember our own power to create our lives in the directions we choose.
Temple of the Goddess, and The Mythic Players, invite you to join us for an evening of art and ritual theatre in celebration of Spring.

Wake Me Up Inside
by Evanescence
How can you see into my eyes
Like open doors?
Leading you down into my core,
Where I've become so numb.
Without a soul,
My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold,
Until you find it there and lead it back
Home.
(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside.
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside.
(Save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark.
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run.
(I can't wake up)
Before I come undone.
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become.
Now that I know what I'm without,
You can't just leave me.
Breathe into me and make me real.
Bring me to life.
(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside.
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside.
(Save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark.
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run.
(I can't wake up)
Before I come undone.
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become.
Bring me to life.
(I've been living a lie.
There's nothing inside)
Bring me to life.
Frozen inside without your touch,
Without your love, darling.
Only you are the life among the dead.
(All of this sight,
I can't believe I couldn't see
Kept in the dark
but you were there in front of me)
I've been sleeping a 1000 years it seems.
I've got to open my eyes to everything.
(Without a thought
Without a voice
Without a soul
Don't let me die here.
There must be something more).
Bring me to life.
(Wake me up)
Wake me up inside.
(I can't wake up)
Wake me up inside.
(Save me)
Call my name and save me from the dark.
(Wake me up)
Bid my blood to run.
(I can't wake up)
Before I come undone.
(Save me)
Save me from the nothing I've become.
Bring me to life.
(I've been living a lie. There's nothing inside)
Bring me to life
I'm on the verge of something,
something bigger than I know.
Something born of nothing,
infinite and whole.
At the place where all things change
and no one is going to ever stay the same.
Welcome to the doorway.
What is on the other side?
It's not for me or you to say.
Because the blind keep leading the blind
unto the end.
Now here's where all things change.
And no one is going to ever stay the same.
We're on the verge of something
greater than we know
something that will rise above
the ashes of the old
Now all things change.
And no one will ever stay the same.
All things change.
