Upward Bound Excels Beyond Expectations
Federally funded program supports college-bound students

HMC's Upward Bound program surpassed its goals for the 2011-2012 academic year, continuing on a successful course with plans to keep excelling. Ninety percent of the high school seniors who participated in the program last year are enrolled in college today, with the majority attending a four-year institution. Ninety-two of the 128 participants improved their grade point average, representing a 33 percent increase over last year's program results.

Campus to Celebrate Capstone Events
Research presentations and Clinic 50th are highlights of year

More than 300 students will present their research results May 6 and 8, during the 43rd Annual Presentation Days at Harvey Mudd College.

The free, public event provides a platform for undergraduate students to unveil findings from their individual and team research projects. This year's projects explore a variety of topics, including alternative energy, hypersonic rocket design, biodiversity and the use of mathematical models to study tumor growth. They represent a breadth of scientific fields including engineering, biology, chemistry, physics, rocketry, medicine, mathematics and computation.

Clinic Turns 50

HMC Clinic 50th Anniversary The HMC community will gather Tuesday, May 7, for its annual Projects Day. This year marks 50 years of HMC's Clinic Program. The free, public event will feature student teams presenting results from 42 Clinic projects. The day's lineup includes 20 Engineering Clinics, 11 Computer Science Clinics, five Mathematics Clinics, four Engineering/Physics Clinics and two Global Clinics. These unique capstone experiences allow students to provide solutions for corporate, national laboratory and agency sponsors.
