Meet and Eat, Jan. 26
The next Alumni Association Board of Governors (AABoG) meeting will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, beginning at 10 a.m. on the HMC Campus. Following the meeting, AABoG will host an alumni/student cookout with first-year students, beginning at 5 p.m. on the Sprague Patio. All alumni are welcome to attend the meeting and cookout. Ahmanson Foundation Supports Construction New academic building bolstered by grant
Harvey Mudd College has received a generous grant from the Ahmanson Foundation in support of its new teaching and learning building, the first academic building in the nation and the first of any structure in California to use the patented BubbleDeck floor slab system.

Alumnus Creates Buzz with Mathgen Algorithmically generated paper accepted for publication
A computer program developed by Nate Eldredge '03 created online buzz when one of its algorithmically generated math papers was accepted for publication. His program, Mathgen, randomly generates professional-looking mathematics papers complete with theorems, proofs, equations, discussion and references.

Registration Opens Soon for Alumni Weekend Plan to attend? Tell us, and save $10 on registration
Join your classmates and friends at Alumni Weekend, May 3-5, and celebrate the unique experiences that define Harvey Mudd College.
- Clinic Program 50th anniversary. A special celebration will include Clinic faculty, alumni and a look at past projects.

New Year, New Alumni Website Improved interaction, functionality
A new HMC alumni online community is coming in 2013. The website will be updated and expanded to include alumni profiles, an online directory with increased search capabilities, the ability to view and submit class notes in real time and social media integration.

HMC Scholars Named AMS Fellows Klawe, Pippenger, Benjamin and alumni to join inaugural class
The American Mathematical Society has named its inaugural class of Fellows, and it includes President Maria Klawe, Professors Nicholas Pippenger and Art Benjamin along with several alumni.
The AMS is the world's largest and most influential society dedicated to mathematical research, scholarship and education. The AMS Fellows program recognizes society members who have made outstanding contributions to the creation, exposition, advancement, communication and utilization of mathematics. The Fellows will be officially welcomed during the AMS Joint Mathematics Meetings in January.

Brain Tumor Ecology Collaborative Established Scholars to study tumors that begin in brain and spine

Harvey Mudd College has been awarded funding through the James S. McDonnell Foundation to pursue the development of the Brain Tumor Ecology Collaborative with three universities. Lisette de Pillis, Norman F. Sprague Jr. Professor of Mathematics and the Life Sciences, is one of the core group collaborators who will work on the three-year project.

Math Major to Study in Moscow First Mudder to receive prestigious scholarship

David Lingenbrink '14 has been awarded a $9,000 scholarship from the American Mathematical Society to study mathematics at the Independent University of Moscow.

Mudders Among Top 10 in Programming Contest Three of four HMC teams make Top 20
Harvey Mudd College placed sixth in the regional competition for the IBM-sponsored ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest held Nov. 10. Four HMC student teams competed in the prestigious computer programming competition, which challenged them to solve nine problems within five hours.
