September 17, 2016 marks the two hundred and twenty-ninth anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention.
At the Lone Tree City Council meeting on August 16, 2016,
Mayor Jacqueline A. Millet officially proclaimed
September 17 through September 23, 2016 to be "CONSTITUTION WEEK" and asked Lone Tree citizens to reaffirm the ideals the Framers of the constitution had in 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian of our liberties, remembering that lost rights may never be regained.
Constitution Day (or Citizenship Day)-An American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is normally observed on September 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia.
