GATES
SECURITY GATES ON
HERITAGE HILLS PARKWAY
The loops that control the opening/closing mechanisms at the Lincoln gate were damaged during the concrete portion of the asphalt/concrete work.  There is a possibility that this could also happen at the Yosemite gate once the concrete repairs start in this area.

Doors West, working with JR Engineering, has determined the best course of action is to not repair the damage to the loops until the project is nearing completion as further damage could be done when the asphalt is removed and replaced along Heritage Hills Parkway.  Once the asphalt/concrete work is nearing completion, the loops will be repaired and the timing on the gates will return to normal.

National Night Out Ice Cream Social
Over 200 neighbors gathered on a very hot August afternoon for fun, fire trucks and delicious Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream! South Metro Fire was on-site for hands-on fire truck adventures and ambulance exploring and discovery.  The kids also enjoyed sidewalk chalk, hula-hoops, and street painting!  Thank you to everyone who attended National Night Out.  A special thanks to all the volunteers who planned the day and South Metro Fire for making it another great event for Heritage Hills!

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
The Overlook soccer field was filled with food, music, games, neighbors and fun the night of August 20th. Almost 200 residents enjoyed a beautiful evening under the stars as "E.T." beamed on a giant movie screen overlooking our wonderful neighborhood.  The Hokey-Pokey and Chicken Dance with a live DJ was a big hit!  Dinner, sweet treats, fun and popcorn were enjoyed by all. Heritage Hills is proud to donate over $450 to the Global Down Syndrome Foundation, thanks to our residents!  A special thanks to the HH Social Committee for setting up another great event for our neighborhood!

GardenGARDENING
Fall is Bulb Planting Time!

Even though there are many bulbs to choose from, daffodils are a great choice for the garden.  They provide excellent colour in the spring landscape, especially in those unirrigated areas.

When purchasing bulbs, pick bulbs that are firm and large and without any rotting spots.  Then store the bulbs in a cool, dry place until it's time to plant the bulbs in September.

When you get ready to plant the bulbs please follow the directions provided.  If you don't have any directions then plant as follows:

1.  Prepare a bed by digging all of the soil out of the planting area to a depth of about 6 inches.
2.  Add about 1/3 by volume of compost to the soil that has been removed from the planting bed and mix the compost in well.
3.  Place the bulbs in the bed with the pointed end up and the flatter, somewhat flattened end down.  Plant the daffodils twice as deep as the height of the bulb i.e if the bulb is 2" tall from base to the tip, then dig the planting bed 6" deep.  Place the bulb 4" below soil level and backfill with the prepared soil.
4.  Water well for a few weeks and then wait till spring for a showy display of flowers.
