I read online Wednesday that we - as in Earth - recently had a near miss with an asteroid. The asteroid, dubbed 2016 QA2, passed within 60,000 miles of the Earth. That may sound like a lot, but in space terms, it's dangerously close. What's even more disconcerting is that apparently no one knew about it. Astronomers
discovered the hunk of rock and ice - estimated at somewhere between 50 and 100 feet in diameter.....

Tuesday Morning Bible Study

Tuesdays, 10:00 am, beginning September 13
This fall we'll be studying Meet the Goodpeople - Wesley's 7 Ways to Share Faith by Roger Ross. Books will be available at the first class meeting. Meet the Goodpeople invites us to see, love and relate to the neighbors all around us within the church, the community and the world with a new heart and new eyes. The TLC Sunday school class will be hosting a guest speaker, Dina Malki. She holds a Master's degree in Islamic Studies and Christian Muslim relations. Everyone is invited to join them as Ms. Malki brings a fresh view of Islam to their class.

Thursdays, 6:30 pm, beginning September 22
Fast Track groups, facilitated by Matt Reed & Fanci Coyle, will meet for a total of 24 weeks, devoting 12 weeks each to the Old Testament and the New Testament. Participants read a manageable 3-5 chapters of the Bible daily in preparation for the weekly meetings, which last approximately 75 minutes. A brief, illustrated review video enables participants to recall important facts and ideas; lively and engaging video presenters then offer insights into the current week's session. Participants have the opportunity to take a spiritual gifts assessment and determine meaningful ways they can live out their discipleship commitment. Sign up at the Connection Center.

September Aledo UMC Kids Mission Project

We will be collecting books for Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth. They are in need of children's books for their book cart. Books need to be new/unused for ages 0-10. Books can be dropped of in the marked bin in the Narthex.

Attention 3rd Grade Parents! Third graders will receive Bibles on Sunday, October 9. Please email Jennifer McDaniel by September 21 to reserve a Bible for your child. Please include how you would like your child's name inscribed in the Bible.
